Although I did not see the MSN article I did see the crash...and ya, it was a nasty tumble. It is pretty remarkable he did not get hurt. Not sure if you have personally crashed a sprint car before, but it can be pretty violent and people have died in and been horribly maimed in these types of cars before. Don't get me wrong, I love the chaos of and spectacle of sprinters, but I hate to see the crashes and possible resulting injuries.

Oh yeah, they just showed that on D/FW channel 5 news this morning. They questioned how wise his team owner could be for letting him do that and suggested he should be removed dirt track racing!

I noticed this as well. Seems since the Leffler incident the media is focusing on our "dangerous sport" a lot more now. On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd say that crash was a 6.5. It's not a national media level. I crashed harder than that plenty of times, but my name isn't Tony Stewart so it didn't even make a youtube highlight reel for thrills and spills
do it in the dirt

Thats what I was getting at about the media coverage since Leffler's accident. In no way was I minimalizing the danger of Sprinters. ..iceracer46 , I drove Sprinters for 28 years in all divisions and believe me I have been on my head plenty of times unfortunantly.

debris...I guess it'll be referred to as 'debris' if it a driver jumps the cushion and junks a car...unless of course what I read on Twitter Monday night was incorrect....nah, Twitter is a reliable source...right?

Yeah I have definitely seen worse crashes (for some reason the Kim Mock wreck at Knoxville keeps popping in my head). But I have also seen crashes that are not even close to being this bad and having terrible driver results. The car did its part in this case and kept Smoke safe.
Real race cars don't have fenders...

Looks to me like he tangled with the cushion. When they say that "his bosses may not want him to race dirt anymore" I think thats exactly one of the reasons he wanted to start his own team, so he wouldn't be told what he could and couldn't do. I know there are more owners than just him, but I have a feeling their not going to tell him what he's gonna do on his free time.

That's worth an e-mail to the station to do fact-checking first.
Maybe they'll get an exclusive interview with Tony before the next race @ TMS and ask him what his car owner thinks of all his extra-curricular racing activities and make themselves sound stupid on the air for everyone to notice, not just racefans...

it didn't look like debris . . . . didn't his RR catch a rut? You can see a chunk off the track shoot off behind him. Looks like it made the car turn right and jump the cush, tripping the car. Happens all the time . . . .

This is good for the sport. There's no such thing as bad publicity.
