Thinking of going to osky 360 challenge...was curious how many cars people expecting and is the racing good at the track! Never been there. Thoughts?

Osky is kick ass.... I would expect a minimum of 50 cars.

I went the past three years. The nonwing racing was the show with Bud Kaeding & Kyle Larson winning the title belt for Cali. The winged 410 shows were good, so it will be interesting to see how the 360's do. The crowd was huge all three years...both days. IT is worth it.
Last year we got halfway drunk at Dingus then paid $10 to ride the party bus to Osky. It was well worth the trip, can't wait for next Monday & Tuesday.

The non-wing race at Oskaloosa is the race of the year for me, great racing, great drivers, great track, friendly fans.
I am sure the wing show is equally as good, promoters there definately know what they are doing.

I'm really curious how this goes. The FRC has slowly been losing its luster (and it's one of my favorite races to attend, but the numbers and racing don't lie) and nothing has seemed to revive it. It's unfortunate there's not another track to hold it at within a close range of Knoxville. I think a change of scenery could be good. Something smaller and more banked.

The best thing about it being an ASCS race is the actual chance that a car can come from the back and win it.

I love the Osky Challenges and have not missed either night since it started. If the track is heavy it's definitely harder to pass.
Wish they would move in the tires a bit on the corners to make the turns a little wider however this may not be doable b/c of the grading the track.
Counting down the days...

I also like the idea of the change to the 360's now that the Cappy Challenge is the night before at Knoxville. Should be a stellar field of cars, look forward to the race and seeing a bunch of old characters that I've missed....

Somebody needs to take the challenge. And there needs to be more cars. If they have 40-50 cars and someone makes it interesting by going to the back, it'll do wonders for the event.

The whole affair has lost lustre from the excitement it used to be because no one has had the guts to take the challenge. The one man who is the only one to win it is and will always be "The Man". Tony has already stated that if he is eligible that night he will take the challenge. Maybe some others will find the motivation to give it a try. I remember one year when Lasoski was driving Tony's car and like everyone else, he called his car owner to check with him. Tony immediately told him on the phone, "If you don't go for it, you are fired!" That's the type of spirit we need. These guys seem to be afraid of a challenge and think if they are on the front row they should just stay there and go for the first place money. I suggested at one time that some sponsor or a good old boy with a few extra bucks lying around (Where did you go, J.W. Hunt? )step up and write a check and tell them, "Here's first place money. Now get your ass to the rear!" Anyone agree? ha ha. Should be a great two nights. The only thing that could make it any better is if my man, Chase Stockon, wins on Tuesday.
My wife told me if I went to one more Sprint Car race
she would leave me.................I'm sure gonna miss
that ol' gal.

I think "Wild Child" is the only guy to pull off the Challenge. Its a sucker bet, like spending your whole paycheck on Lotto tickets. Smoke obviously doesn't need the $$$, wants to spice it up....

From ASCSRacing.com:
Bryan Hulbert - Tulsa, Oklahoma (January 11, 2013) A staple event of the Cox Fabrication Iowa Sprint Week, the Musco Lighting Front Row Challenge presented by Casey’s General Store will in 2013 be a part of the Lucas Oil ASCS presented by MAVTV American Real National Tour.
Scheduled from Monday August 5, 2013 at the Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, Iowa the Terry McCarl promoted extravaganza that is an all-night party with a race between drinks will feature a $3,000 to win A-Feature with the challenge to drop to the tail at $30,000 making the potential payout among the highest in ASCS history.
The event will also count for the Jesse Hockett Mr. Sprint Car Title which awards points starting at the ASCS Knoxville Nationals through the 410 Nationals and pays an additional $3,000 to the driver with highest accumulated points.

What they should have done along time ago, is to offer incentives for moving up through the field and not just all or nothing to win it from the rear. I believe they are finally doing something like that this year.

IF that is true (I have never heard about it), then they must not have been diddly squat. Hopefully, they will make substantial increases, that would entice a driver to go to the rear.
