Illinois Sprintweek!!!
I never would have imagined a sprintweek in Illinois a few years back. Keep up the momentum MOWA!! Tony Stewarts name helps too. Outlaws were back at LaSalle, IRA will be there again, Powri midgets were awsome at Macon as well. Check out STARS midgets at Grundy county on Saturdays. Weekends are looking up in the Land of Lincoln.
Bring back Santa Fe, and LaSalle .

STARS Midgets at Grundy are still hurting. Went last Saturday for The Illinois Midget Championships. 3 classes of child racers, weak National class with 12 cars and not very much action, and the Illini Midgets. The Illini cars at least put on a show and had many cars running at the front. The STARS organization is making an effort but for some reason the show there just does not seem to be getting any steam behind it. The Midgets are cool but they need to drop the support classes. They make for boring racing at best.

I agree with most of what you said, but if no one supports them they will be gone and we won't have the option to see alocal race. I like to support the deducation ofthe local teams. The Illini racers had 17 starters and I think 8 finished the race.

I agree with that mbers 1. They do need the support. I just firgure that they hurt themselves when they put on shows like that. I am sorry, but to start 5 Legends cars for a 20 laps feature is really a joke. The Illinois State Midget Championship is supposed to be a big deal, and filling the pits with mini cup cars which are unimpressive and 5 legends cars is a discgrace. I took friends with me to that show and they were sorely disappointed. I also agree that the Illini started 18 cars (actually 17 as one of them failed to start) and they ended up with 7 or 8 finishing, but they also had the most passing and the closest racing of all 5 classes. It almost seemed to me that the Illini (sportsman midgets) were the headliner and the National cars were the support class. I really like what the STARS program is trying to accomplish, but they have a long road to travel at this point. They do need the support however, if they are going to actually become something worth paying for. One up side is that they don't charge much to get in and watch a race. That having been said, you get what you pay for.

Back to your original post mbers 1, it is pretty damn cool, having an Illinois Sprintweek. MOWA does a fine job with their program. Every Powri race that I have been to has been pretty damn good as well. So yes, Illinois is finally starting to see some growth in this department. That is a good deal!

That is the point I was trying to make.
I know the Stars show isn't the best thing going but if someone is looking for something to do on a Saturday night it is an option. For a family with kids it is a pretty good deal. It would cost more to go to a movie. Maybe you need to give your feedback to STARS as I believe they are trying to do whatever they can to keep the tradition of midget racing alive in the area . The Legends were a joke but posting what a horrible program STARS puts on is sure to keep people away.
