Glenpool, OK – Matt Covington has finally conquered the gremlins that have plagued his season up to this point, and the timing couldn’t be better. With the Knoxville Nationals looming, Covington picked up his second ASCS win of 2013 at West Siloam Speedway in Oklahoma on Saturday night.

On a typical Oklahoma evening, Covington put his early season woes even further in his rear view mirror by racing to the win in the family owned T&L Foundry #95 Triple X Sprint Car at West Siloam Speedway. Matt had a fantastic drive in the A Main, moving into the lead by lap 13 and going virtually unchallenged from there. “It’s really nice to keep putting the bad nights behind us and being able to look forward to better things,” said father/car owner Bill Covington post race. “We’ve been so good this year, but just keep encountering bad random luck…leading at Creek County (Speedway) against the national guys and a cam pin goes bad, leading them again at Lawton (Speedway) when we get taken out by a lapper. It’s nice to get heading toward Knoxville, where we’re always good and have had success, with momentum”.

Heading into this weekend’s events for the 360 Sprint Cars at Knoxville, Covington claims two victories in 27 starts on this season and a lead in the ASCS Lonestar Region points, which he won  in both 2011 and 2012. He also sits second for the ASCS Sooner Region points, trailing by only 18 markers with 5 events remaining. Covington will go into Knoxville having won the 2009 opening race at the big ½ mile and having made the Nationals A Main multiple times over his young career.

Matt would like to thank his family for supporting his dreams as well as sponsors T&L Foundry, Triple X, Winters Performance Products, Brodix, and C.G. Martin Company as well as all of his associate and product sponsors.
