As I have had the pleasure of racing with the Larson family in the very beginning I know firsthand the hard work and dedication that Mike and Janet put behind Kyle. It goes without saying that his sister Andrea is also a big supporter her brother.

My grandsons Alan and Cody Ambers both raced with Kyle in the begging and are now racing at the famed Knoxville Raceway weekly.

What makes Kyle Larson the person he is starts with his family and their support.

I believe that starting out in outlaw dirt karts is one of the major factors in his ability to race just about anything.

Plus being in the right place at the right time dose not hurt either. Kyle came out from California to race the Outlaw Dirt Kart Nationals at English Creek Speedway in Knoxville, Iowa for a couple years where he captured the eye of Parker Store (at the time Donny Schatz sponsor) and they became his first what I would call a national sponsor. By the way he won I believe just about every race he was in trading slid jobs with the like of JJ Yele, John Kearney, Matt Moro, Robbie Wolfgang and Sheldon Haudenschild.

If you want to see the next Kyle Larson come out to English Creek Speedway Aug 5,6 for the Outlaw Dirt Kart Nationals. You never know who will be there we do know that Paul McMahan will be in attendance on Tuesday.

Agreed Dan,  thank you for letting me photograph that inaugural year! There was a tremendous talent group that year with Kyle probably heading up the talent pool to date, but there are many more out there still racing and succeeding.  Your grandsons, Mason Moore, JoJo Hellberg, come to mind right off the bat from that first year.  I truly enjoyed the racing at English Creek and gained a great group of friends in the Larsons..

As a nearly 60 year racing fan, Kyle continues to impress me.  He definitely is the real deal.  He also seems to have a great attitude and lacks the big ego that, unfortunately, some of his contemporaries have.  I hope he continues the excellent showing.  He'll be in the big time in no time!

Larson ran second to Tracy Hines tonight in a midget at IRP.
