Hancock County Speedway

Britt, IA

IRA

27 cars

Travis Whitney (25th car out to time) set quick time at 14.452 seconds on the 4/10 mile banked oval. Gary DeWall (4th car out) was second quick, followed by Mike Reinke (16th), Kim Mock (3rd), Billy Balog (15th), Scotty Neitzel (24th), Donny Goeden (5th), Ryan Irwin (21st), Matt Wasmund (11th) and John Haeni (18th).

Heat one (started): 1. Scott Biertzer 4B (1) 2. Gordy Vogelaar 1A (2) 3. Goeden 11 (4) 4. Haeni 21J (3) 5. Whitney 9 (6) / 6. Mock 1m (5) 7. Steve Meyer 85m (7) 8. Bill Warren 95 (8) 9. Mike Moore 69 (9)

Vogelaar shot out to an early lead in the 8 lapper. The heat stayed pretty status quo until the very last corner when Biertzer performed a slidejob on the leader to take the win.

Heat two (started): 1. John Sernett 91 (2) 2. DeWall 16 (6) 3. Balog 17 (5) 4. Billy Hafemann 2B (1) 5. Irwin 49 (4) / 6. Donovan Peterson K9 (8) 7. Tim Vandervere 7v (9) 8. Dave Uttech 68 (3) 9. Joe Symoens 96 (7)

Sernett jumped out early and led flag to flag. DeWall moved up to second by lap six, when D. Uttech, who was running sixth, spun. The restart saw Sernett ahead of DeWall, Balog, Hafemann and Irwin. That's the way they would finish.

Heat three (started): 1. Neitzel 2w (5) 2. Scott Uttech 3K (3) 3. Kurt Davis 77 (1) 4. Brian Kristan 5 (2) 5. Wasmund 4w (4) / 6. Reinke 02 (6) 7. Ty Bartz 75 (8) 8. Jerry Richert Jr. 63 (7) 9. Russel Borland 23 (9)

Before a lap could be completed, Wasmund got sideways and collected a defenseless Reinke. Reinke restarted at the tail, while Wasmund continued under his own power. Davis, subbing for Wayne Modjeski, led the early stages. On lap three, contact between S. Uttech and Kristan, almost sent the latter flying into the corn. Fortunately, Kristan saved it and rejoined the pack at the tail. Davis led S. Uttech, Neitzel, Wasmund and Reinke back to green flag racing. One lap after the restart, Neitzel used the high side of the banked fourth turn to circumvent the leader. Borland spun on lap five, bringing the last caution of the event. Neitzel led Davis, S. Uttech, Wasmund, Reinke and Kristan back to green flag racing. Kristan shot under Reinke for fifth and then got by Wasmund after the early race caution.

B main (started): 1. Reinke (1) 2. Meyer (4) 3. D. Uttech (3) 4. Richert (6) 5. Bartz (9) 6. Moore (10) 7. Peterson (8) / 8. Borland (12) 9. Mock (2) 10. Warren (7) 11. Symoens (5) 12. Vandervere (11)

When Mock got a bit sideways, it collected Peterson, Warren, Vandervere, Moore and Symoens. Symoens and Vandervere went pitside. Peterson and Mock continued with severe top wing damage. Warren returned but exited a little later. Moore seemed to be the only one to escape unscathed. Reinke led flag to flag despite two other slowdowns. Borland went over the turn one berm on lap one and stopped. At the time, Reinke led Meyer, D. Uttech, Richert, Bartz, Moore and Mock. Peterson was able to duck under Mock who suffered a flat tire, one lap later. Peterson was able to hold the rest off for the final transfer.

A main (started): 1. Goeden (4) 2. Neitzel (5) 3. Balog (6) 4. Whitney (8) 5. Haeni (1) 6. DeWall (7) 7. Biertzer (9) 8. Wasmund (2) 9. Reinke (11) 10. Kristan (15) 11. Sernett (10) 12. Meyer (18) 13. S. Uttech (13) 14. Davis (17) 15. Richert (19) 16. Hafemann (16) 17. Moore (22) 18. D. Uttech (12) 19. Vogelaar (14) 20. Bartz (21) 21. Irwin (3) 22. Peterson (20)

Haeni jumped out to an early lead in the 25 lapper. Haeni used the low side, while the second place machine of Goeden rode the cushion. Goeden's momentum shot him by the leader on lap five. Neitzel followed suit to take second. As the leaders entered lapped traffic on lap twelve, Reinke contacted Irwin on lap 12. Irwin was towed off in the only slowdown of the event. On the restart, Goeden led Neitzel, Haeni, Wasmund, Whitney, and DeWall. Two laps later, rubber started developing ¾ of the way up the track. On lap 16, Goeden was trying to lap a car, got high, and was passed by Neitzel. On lap 19, the same scenario sunk Neitzel, and Goeden led from there forward. Meyer was the hard-charger moving up six spots. Goeden's win was his fifth IRA tally of the season.

People post results on the boards as a favor. When did we go from "thanks for doing us a favor" to "what the h*ll is takin' ya' so long to get the Deer Creek results posted?" Smile
