after Watching Video of Kyle Larson coming from the back at Limaland & Lernerville, I Find myself Scratching My Head at What Makes this Kid So Good In a Winged Sprintcar ?

That was his 1st time ever at Lernerville Speedway, & he was Passing Seasoned Veterans with The World Of Outlaws, like they were Sitting Still, OMG

So whats EVERYONES Reasonings as to why this Kid from California is SO GOOD ?

Heres My 2 cents Worth

1/ I ve always thought when you race cars Faster on Bigger Tracks, Hence his nascar Racing at all the fast Tracks on the Nascar Tracks, then when you come back to the dirt Bull Rings you can go deeper in the corners,

2/ He's Young has NO FEAR, Has no Wife or Children to worry about,

It's not just winged cars.....

First time at the Belleville Nationals...Wins.....

First time at Oskaloosa in non wing sprint....Wins....In a car he had never driven...

IMO...I think he's just a hell of a seat of the pants driver that is very much in tune with the car.

It could be arguabely said that he would have a feature win at Knoxville had he not broke and hit the wall with 4 to go.

The kid is very impressive for sure!  In his heat race at the Knight Before the Kings Royal race he started 9th and was in 3rd after the 1st circuit. Driving right around some pretty good cars.

A gift from God to racing.  We need him.  The cars have been the same for 20 years so he is all we have to write home about.  NASCAR sucks.

Luna's Ford engine style that won 2 WoO titles and 3
Kings Royals before a weight rule against the best EVER
in their prime and now DOMINATES super dirt late model
racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint
car.... Was Luna a miracle worker?

here's my opinion;

1. & this is the most important, he LOVES racing. he loves racing on dirt. he's loved it since he could first form coherent sentences (watch his mom's uploads on youtube some time). he loves open wheel racing. but I honestly think he could be competitive in anything, given enough time.

2. I don't know if he still does this, but I read an article a while back about how he practiced during down time w a PC & racing games. getting to race on a simulation of a place before you actually get there has to help. I'm sure that now that he races quite a bit more he doesn't do the CPU quite as much, or at all.

3. he knows the value of keeping the car straight. read this too somewhere. people rooster tailing mud 20 feet high looks cool, but really isn't nearly as fast as having finesse & throttle control.

4. his parents raised him 'right'. taught him to stay humble, don't get a big head. a lot of people that are naturally gifted eff it all up before they hit their peak with money, women, drugs, food, whatever. he's focused. he wants to race as much as possible. whenever, wherever, whatever. can't get better watching TV & chasing tail. I applaud him for it.

that's all I got for now.

oh yeah, it can't hurt to start racing karts at a young age like he has. those things are super grippy, you really feel the G's. teaches you to find that absolute edge to push an automobile to the point of almost being out of control.

Many compare Kyle to AJ and I agree with that, but Jimmy Clark was a similar phenom. Saw Clark at Sebing and Watkins Glen and he was awesom. Sterling Moss also could drive anything and win.

The kid loves just loves racing he is great for the sport. While alot of us watch little nascar lets face it some of those nascar guys are helping sprint car racing big time Without Tony Stewart Racing , Kasey Kahne Racing & Stenthouse racing the face of sprint cars would look very different. It will not be long until we have a Kyle Larson Racing team on the WOO tour or ASCS or maybe evan USAC. We are privaliged to watch that young man guys like that dont come along offen.

Some of us have seen this before and it called "it". No one knows for sure where "it" comes from, but we know it when we see it and Kyle has it.

Half the lies they tell about me aren't true.

Kyle already has a win at Knoxville. I believe he won on one of the qualifying nights last year.

His car control is amazing, especially when going into the turns. He doesn't have a whole lot of wasted motion, and he's fearless.

Didnt he win a prelim night at the Nationals last year?

Kyle has been good since he strapped into a car.  I think there's a lot to him not being raised around racing and how it "should" be done.   He's not following "the book" when he drives, but finding open spaces and making it work.  That and when he has to, he can click off laps exactly the same into infinity. 100 plus races a year in great equipment helps too, but the fact remains this kid is a talent like we haven't seen in forever.  When he gets the best equipment, combined with being the best driver out there, its a devastating combo.  Enjoy the ride.

I was doing front stretch interviews during Gold Cup week at Silver Dollar and asked him after a wingless win if he was on steroids.  He said no.  So that's out.  - Ron, always after the facts we all want to know

Kyle is super talented, dedicated, fearless aggressive and believes in himself. He loves to race and truly believes he can win every race he's in.

i once read an article about joey saldana and why he was such a good qualifier. he said that he doesnt force the car to do what he wants, instead he tries to adapt to what the car wants. i also read the same thing about tonly stewart back in his usac days when he tested against a couple of the very best drivers. some guys will try to force the car.....like kinser use to be able to do when he had karl.....but i think larson can get a feel for where the car wants to go and adapt very quickly, which makes him perform well. like was stated above "seat of thepantsracer" he keeps his momentum up and seems to always be able to change lines and still be fast when he has to.

I have often wondered this question, I too am a driver, maybe not nearly as talented? , but I am Absolutly in lesser of the equipment, would I?, could I?,will I ?,  be outlaw calibur if my equipent was as my competitors calibur?  often times I put my humbelness aside and say yes I could be..  I would love to see Donny,Sammy,SK,TK,Saldana,Pittman, ect ect, switch equipment with me for one night..  Now, if they can beat me with no effort in the lesser equipment then they are good, if they cant they are just as human as me,  (dont get me wrong here) Larson is good with a promicing future, from my observation the Kiddo has been in top notch equipment night in and night out, 70% of racing is having the finances to be competitive, sadly in 410 winged cars the sky is the limit it seems, In retrospect at the start of the A,  you have one car, one motor,  and a footfull of determination, hopefully your hands and mind can keep up.. Im not trying to take anything away from Larson, His competiton has been a loaded gun while he shows impressive drives forward,  put him in lesser equipment, a few crashes, poor finishes, ect, he might not be the driver you are chatting about now, racing is very mind focused. apparently Kyle can tune out the static..
