Last week saw the Ironwood Builders/Billy Alley #3 race at the I-80 Speedway on Thursday and Knoxville Raceway on Saturday.  The Nebraska 360 Sprint Series show on Thursday would see the #3 start last in the 1st heat race.  The first few laps would see Billy move up 5 positions and settle in the 4th place where he would eventually finish earning him enough points for the redraw.  “The car was pretty good for the heat and we moved up nicely, we were really looking forward to the “A” feature.”  The “A” feature would see Billy start in the 3rd position.  “When we went around for the buzz lap, something was amiss with the motor, so I pulled in immediately.  Originally we thought the mag might have been bad, but upon further discovery we had a broken spark plug.  Buns, my dad and I have been racing for a long time together and we have never seen anything like it.  Needless to say we were disappointed we didn’t make it out for the feature.”

Saturday night would see the team return “Home” for Billy, the Knoxville Raceway.  “Knoxville is a place I have a ton of laps and it is definitely my home.  It was great to see some old friends and all the fans, there’s no place like it in the world.”  Time trials would see Billy finish in the 8th position.  “We were really loose in time trials; we had a lot of work to do after that.”   The heat race would see Billy start in the 4th position.  After a caution on the initial start, Billy would settle into 4th place the first few laps and then advance 1 more position halfway through the race for a 3rd place finish putting him solidly in the “A” feature.  “The car was better in the heat race but we were still pretty loose.”  The “A” feature would see Billy start in the 2nd position.  Once the green flag flew Billy would find himself in the lead after the first lap.  The next 6 laps would be the same as the 1st lap with Billy showing the point, but on lap 8 a slide job from Brian Brown would see Billy fall back to the 2nd spot, one lap later the 3rd spot when Clint Garner got around him.  Eventually when the checkered flag flew Billy would find himself in the 3rd position and on the podium.  “It was great to run up front with Zach Woods' horsepower and Eagle Chassis.  With that being said, Brian Brown showed us that we have a long way to go and we are all ready for the challenge our future is getting brighter as we keep getting faster.”  “I’m looking forward to getting back over to Knoxville this weekend.”

It was absolutely great to see you back, Billy.  It had been far too long.
