The SKUNK smelled pretty good tonight. No longer a FOAW. He is now a OAW. Congrats to the #71 Team.

Yep, big props to Brian and the team and bigger cheers for Clint and his team, what a place the Grove must be right now. Called often from a race track tonite but the motorcycles were so loud I could hardly hear anything, what happened to the 15? Take It Easy....

Schatz started 16th and was moving up in the opening five or six laps; only guy really doing any passing. But that advancement pretty much stalled out after reaching sixth. Other than Schatz in the first couple laps, the racing was strung out and, well, single file. LOL

I know some people in other parts of the country occasionally rag on the PA handicapping for weekly races, but a $12 weekly show at the Grove is far more entertaining and exciting than last night's $30 show.

Mike, nice to see you give credit to a PA team, especially since it was a young PA driver beating the Outlaws on a night when none of the big three got out of the B-main.

A few years ago when he won the Anniversary show at Lincoln I said he would be touring within three years, ask Mark or Clint. He looked like he owned those guys on a couple of nights I saw him there back then, not sure what happened other than the move to the Apple car seemed to slow things down for a while. He is most assuredly the definition of a FOAW but no longer, he is a POAW (present). Take It Easy....

Swamp calls it from Ohio, the voice is gone and couldnt have been a better night to be at the Grove. The VIP went nuts with tears a flowing! Nothing better then watching your favorite local driver beat the Outlaws and I dont care how bad the track was. Hawker, if rebelbubba wasnt Posse before, then he most certainly is now. MSPN, thanks for the props and and as always Go Brian!

you mean the VIP section where all the "idiots" and "morons" sit?

the entire back strech exploded...all the way to beer hill.

yeah, i could tell that the locals missed your charm tonight...but you would have left early and pissed off anyway during the ovation when Schatz lost it in TT or the TBAG spin...

congrats to Leppo and Lucas who earned PODIUM finishes.

good work to all 11 drivers who QUALIFIED both nights.

yeah I'd never even really heard of Leppo. Good for him I bet he's on cloud nyne after winnin a big one like that.........and thats always really cool.

What happened with Rahmer or Hodnett? I saw Rahmer didn't make it out of the C but I didn't see Hodnett's name...........

Sorry for ya'll that it wasn't entertaining. To be Honest due to track conditions (which must not be Lanny Edwards thing lately) the ascs speedweek race at OKC tonight wasn't that great either. There were 46 cars which was impressive considering the NCRA was running Hutch Nationals and Dodge City is runnin the Klassic (both in Kansas) and the heats were really good with a lots and lots of passing. But the top groove went completely away and it was all downhill (literally..lol...on the bottom) from there. Because of the slick track....I felt it would have been better to have only paid 10$ and saw 60 sprints in a weekly show........instead of a 20$ freight train. It also woulda been better if anybody had ANYTHING for Gary Wright. there was only 1 lap left by the time Jason Johnson had got around Wayne Johnson for 2nd. But it probably would not have made much a difference.

Anyways.............with tomorrow being the 3rd night of the Open........how many are locked in from the first 2 nights? Are they runnin a full show or just features lined up by accumalated points? And finally.........are there any classes runnin other than the 410's up there?

...after watching the Posse vs WoO feud here for a couple years, I finally decided to see the real thing, so I drove 120 miles north on Fri. nite for my first visit to the Grove & saw my first nonTV WoO show...thanks to the banter here, I had a good feel for the rivalry...it was cool to see a couple local regulars ( 71 & 5) put it to the once & future Kings (11 & 15)...especially after reading about Thurs results...I enjoyed the whole experience & plan to follow the Posse again...here's the impression I came away with (& I know I don't have to ask you all / yu'nze to correct me where I'm wrong :

When the WoO & Posse get together, there's simply too many really fast cars & drivers to get a true test of who's the fastest on any given night. Look at who's in / who's out Thurs / Fri - some pretty hot talent in the B & C mains. On Fri, it seemed a quick qual time was primarily based on how early you got on the track to qual & the most critical factor for success in the heats was how the invert worked out.

In other words - luck (the draw for qual. order & invert) were equally (or more) important than the car or driver (when you have so many good ones). It's still a great show, but I hated seeing all those really good teams I'd been looking forward to seeing miss the A main, just like I would have missed seeing the other potential winners who missed out on Thurs. I'm still not sure who's better - the outlaws or the posse, I think it's more like betting on the roulette wheel. Still a great show (not complaining).

Congrats to the 71 team and all of his Posse fans. Got to watch the video of the night and the heat races until the B Main looked phenominal. Kinda turned into a choo-choo but a win is a win against the Outlaws. Tonight should be interesting as hell if the track is multi-grooves for the heats until the A again. Again, congrats to everybody out east back from SD.

OKC, Hodnett (41st fastest) and Rahmer (43rd fastest) both put up horrible time trial laps and were in trouble the rest of the night. Track just kept getting slower and slower as time trials progessed. Local driver Steve Buckwalter was the first car to time, and he set fast time.

This is Brian Leppo's fifth year in a 410. He had a breakthrough year two seasons ago, winning several features at Lincoln and Susquehanna before briefly moving to the Apple Chevrolet car. That only lasted for a couple months, however. Prior to Friday night, I believe he only had one career win at the Grove.

Saturday is a full show at the Grove, but the heats are lined up off of total points earned the first two nights. After paying $30 Friday night for what was a really bad show, I think I will take in the local Modified track tonight.

When the Outlaws come to the Grove, or any big 410 show at the Grove for that matter, it is a one-division show.

Rads, get to the Grove for a regular show. Last night's show was as bad a show as I have seen there in a while. The atmosphere at the Grove for a WoO show is crazy, especially when a local wins, but the weekly racing is much better than a WoO show at the Grove.

it was the normal "outlaw" surface...the rubberdown started about half way into the A.

tonight - no TTs, invert the heats by points from both nights, B and C are dependent on how many non qualifiers from the previous night actually unload.

since only 11 cars made the A both nights - the points spreads will be very similar in the mid pack...anything can happen

GREAT! Congrats to Leppo! (and to Wolfe) two top notch drivers and cool kids to chat with. Am actually excited to hear of their success where I likely wouldn't have had it been Rahmer, DeWease or Hodnett. But when the upset is a actually a bit of an upset, I can appreciate that.

Congrats too, to Clint and company, has to feel good. I'll wear my skunk shirt with pride today. I'll tell your Kings Royal bean bag partner as well, he'll be happy for ya too!!

As for tonight....."ANYONE BUT SCHATZ, KINSER, RAHMER OR DEWEASE!!!!!!!!!

Oh yea.....They pass on a weekly show because the competition up front isn't anywhere as stout as a typical WoO field. Too many good cars when the posse and WoO get together. Good equipment, good drivers, few mistakes equal little passing, understandable. You handicap them on a regular show in order to make it a show.

I'm curious to know what the speeds were last night on night two, especially with everyone saying slower. How much slower?

You all had it better than me as I was doing racing radio at Hilltop...IRS Late Models...still racing, but I think I'll stick with Sprints!

HAVE FUN TONIGHT!

At least Bruce Ellis still calls him the "King of the Outlaws"! It's been a while since I've heard Johnny say it!!

The racing action was great until the A, but at least the "Wild Child" made it entertaining on the cushion! I think he wrecked a couple times......he just didn't hit anything.

It was an awesome win for the Leppo family & crew!
