OK I cant take it anymore, with the Nationals just under a month away, Im wondering what your favorite thing to do in Knox is? we have attended the past several years and possibly looking for anything interesting, (race related) to do, Oskaloosa was a new experience last year ,and maybe a bit watered down in our experience and understanding than the past several years, but, still a hoot, we visited the Swamp Fox! and enjoyed a awesome tenderloin/cheeseburger that definetly filled us up, the rib shack is only less than a month wait and fourteen hour drive away! Meat pies?? innnnntresting? definetly had seconds for further evaluation, hold the beets tho! let the good times roll.. any schedule as to Dingus festivities this year? the trike races were a blast! any predictions as to 360 turnout for Osky? go ahead chime in!!

So many things to look forward to with Knoxville where to begin...Of course just seeing all of the greatest drivers in the country at one place for 4 days but other than that the turn 3 and 4 party after the races is the best party anywhere ever, I also enjoy being able to pig out on all of the food around Knoxville...22 days and counting until the trip to a little piece of heaven.

I love this time of year, the anticipation is so much fun. I'm going to the Kings Royal this year, but to me it's just a pitstop on the way to the best week of the year.
Early in the week I like to hang out in the afternoon outside the track and watch the cars being worked on. Also, it's fun to see where the haulers are stashed all over the town.
The Hall of Fame has some really interesting fan forums, I like the Johnny Gibson one and the Posse forum w/ Bruce Ellis.
Oskaloosa is a good time, I think the 360s will liven up the front row challenge this year.

Two things I'm going to miss at this years Nationals: my dad not being there with me for the first time since 1984. Two, being able to eat all the great food Knoxville has to offer!! Had gastric bypass in March and can't/don't eat much. But hey I've lost 105lbs so that's a plus, lol.

grill steaks from the hyvee (amana colonies!) & watch great racing.
watching the cars load in on saturday was cool too. in the future I will just pick a spot, sit on my camping stool, w a cooler & take pics. almost reminds me of observing the horses before a race. everything is all shiny & new, hoping for their best performance of the year. tons of tires & rearends & tools.

My favorite thing is now a memory as the Main Street Cafe closed. I LOVED going there for breakfast every morning. Great food, reasonable prices and a "family" atmosphere you just couldn't beat. Sorry it is out of business.
They had one sign inside the restaurant I loved. It went like this:
NO SMOKING ON SUNDAY. WE DON'T WANT THE CHURCH FOLKS TO SMELL LIKE SMOKE! (there was a church directly across the street)
I LEARNED ESP FROM MY MOM
"PUT YOUR SWEATER ON: DON'T YOU THINK I KNOW WHEN
YOU'RE COLD?"
