Neil McCarl of Haughton, Louisiana took the win Friday at Golden Triangle Raceway Park in Beaumont, Texas, over a 22 car field. McCarl distanced himself by putting several lap cars between him and the second place machine of Eunice, Louisiana's Ty Johnson in the #49er. Only a late race caution allowed Johnson to catch up to the #28 David Forbis Racing Well's Powered Eagle sprinter. On the ensuing restart Johnson edged McCarl for the turn one corner to jump in front and take the checkers. But during post race inspection it was found Johnson's Racesaver heads didn't pass tech giving the win to McCarl and Team28/DFR. Top three were 1st) #28 Neil McCarl, 2nd) #51 Caleb Martin, and 3rd) #6volt Cody Harger.
Saturday the series picked up again at Leesville 171 Speedway where West Monroe's Cody Harger piloted his #6volt Interstate Batteries ASI Racing Engines entry to win #4 on the year. Harger started on the outside pole and led the entire feature as he expertly worked the bottom in turns one and two and the cushion in three and four to seal the deal. Top three were 1st) #6volt Cody Harger, 2nd) #8a Alan Myers, and 3rd) #15 Tommy Johnson.
