The PAS decided to remember Jason Leffler properly in a big way at the 73rd running of the Turkey Night Grand Prix rather than the Firecracker 30. The Turkey Night Grand Prix is much more appropriate to remember him at as it is a race he won and it is the longest running and most prestigious Midget race in the world.

This Is Glen Wolsky 909-855-8094 if anyone wants to bitch. I to wondered what was up with that , If Turkey Night is the race than say something about it ! Another thing that boggles my mind, you have a huge crowd and have them captured there for the fireworks,Tell them about whats coming up . know what i am done i could go on . Great Race ,great atmosphere, have never missed a July 4th race and have only missed a hand full of Sprint Car races since Perris opened, I Love the place !!

Glen, were you listening? We constantly plugged what was coming up in the night as well as upcoming events at the track for all of our shows USASC/CRA, PASSCAR, Night of Destruction, U.S. Longtrack Championship, Oval Nationals etc.

Scott, I know you guys tried a little to promote some upcoming events last night, but with the crowd of newcomers you had there, you should have been whooping it up about how exciting open wheel sprint cars are and inviting these newcomers back over and over again and again!!!!

We need more butts in the stands!! Don needs more butts in the stands!!!

I do also have to say that I was suprised that there was NO mention of Jason Lefler last night. If you are going to honor him at the Turkey Night, it should have been brought up and announced that that was going to happen. Thetr was the best crowd of the season and it would have been appriciated.

Other than that, it was agreat night of racing!!! Thanks for the venue!!

See ya next race;

Ziggy

How did the free pass for residents work out? Did they show, did they know? I thought it was a great idea.

Sorry to hear that, I was hoping for better. I made it over last year, but I've been a little busy....The Red cross and the ADS, animal disaster service has been at my College, Yavapai, since the beginning of the fire over here. We have people staying both in the gym and in the one dorm that is not being renovated. We are 1000% full, is what we like to say. A very busy 4th of July weekend for all of us in facilities. We've set up flat screen TV's in the Gym, along with a row of computers and that's just scratching the surface of what we are happy to do for our neighbors in Yarnell. Oh, we have opened our pool as well, with movies in the Performance hall on the big screen.

Scott i heard you talking about the night of destruction, and the bike race, Iam talking about what was coming up next, like what race , iam telling you people around me thought the young gun race was the main. I to couldn't believe Jason Lefler was not mentioned, It could have been brought up and tell us he will be honored at Turkey night, which iam sure he will be .You might not like my opinion but when i sit and watch a race and i see people that might not have ever been to a race before , i think they need more info. What drives me nuts is we get the line up as the cars are being pushed off , then we get a line up by the # , the new comer casual fan cant associate the name of the driver to the car , because most of the cars were still being pushed off when we got the line up ,then we listen to ac/dc or the boys are back in town until the cars enter turn 3 and they get the green flag. I think you should give us a quick run down of the top 3 or 4 rows , as they roll down back straight . You have Kruseman, Cardey, Spencer the Demon, Faas Williams. that would be sooo much better than Thin Lizzy ! Guy sitting behind me was confused about what car Damian was in , I told him he has the red numbers and green roll bar padding . I put myself as if it was first time i ever went to a race ,and Scott you do a Great job this is just my opinion. Glen Wolsky

 For the record, here is a screen shot showing the crowd. As you can see its at 5:48 on the clip which is the end of the CRA feature. I'll say it for the 100th time. Message boards do more harm to our sport than good....pretty sad commentary on this thread.

A few notes here... there have been 2 CRA races since we lost Jason, both of those were dedicated by the winner in Jason's memory, also if you look at the PAS program there is a tribute by Scott to Jason and a pictured tribute to Jason as well, how many races should we bring up such a horrible tragedy? Also, without bringing attention to it, Page Jones and I stood at the start finish line to wish the drivers well, ALL of them by the way, it worked, nobody was hurt. Jason was in our hearts, we really didn't need a show of hands to see who else will miss him every day for the rest of our lives, ( yes even 4 months from now) as far as a tribute to Jason, it would have brought me to tears, not something I would have enjoyed doing if front of hundreds of new fans. Our next race is a tribute to our racing family, current and past, anyone that would like to remember Jason in a loving and positive way with a lap, award or bonus is very welcome, (don't promise if your not gonna do it, I won't mention the names on the board that have promised in the past only to not come up with the cash that I ended up paying out of my pocket) do you guys think we can we let Jason rest in peace now? It's bad enough we lost him, lets stop making it worse. Sorry to Jason's family and friends for all of this negativity at such a horrible time, hopefully it will end here.

On another note: This years crowd is probably the largest 4th of July crowd in the last 10 years. And to Buzzard, thank you for the countless hours you spend sorting out your work for us at the PAS providing us and other race tracks with our requests, if you die before me, I will remember you as "SOMETHING" and miss you as part of my racing family.

  It's not me, it's the community as a whole that's came together to support these people and animals in need.

I have friend whose family has owned property in Yarnell for at least 50 years. What you need to know about the folks in Yarnell is that these are just not people who had moved there to live in "a haven for retirees. Yarnell is also home to families with children. For the most part, most of the people living in Yarnell are just above or at poverty level and Yarnell gave them a somewhat inexpensive place to live. And because of their income levels, many of them probably couldn't afford insurance. All of them feel very badly about the loss of the firefighters and truly wish for a different outcome. At the same time, the loss of their homes is an absolute tragedy for them. Where are they going to live? Do we just abandon people who live in areas like this?

Half the lies they tell about me aren't true.

Well said Chris and Jeff, I was unable to attend, but the race and crowd looked great from the excellent video coverage. Lefturn will never be forgotten especially among the SoCAL racing family.
