Gale was a wonderful gentleman who gave many racefans personal tours of his racing archives. He produced a book back around 1980 called "Thunder in The North" about racing in our area. Gale did a lot to help preserve the history of our sport and I am happy to have had the privilege of meeting him. Rest in peace Mr. Frost. From the Kare 11 website:
"Gale C. Frost, a long time resident of St. Anthony Park and a Minnesota
State Fair legend, died Tuesday from complications of cancer. He was 94
years old.
Gale created the popular Minnesota State Fair History
Museum in 1976 and served as its curator until 2001. Since then, he has
held the title of State Fair Historian. His lifetime involvement with
the State Fair started as a youngster when in 1920, at the age of 7, he
helped make lemonade for his father's food stands at the Grandstand and
old Hippodrome.
He was a helper in the fair office when he was a
teenager, worked part-time with concessionaires and exhibitors as a
young man and, after a career in agricultural products sales, returned
to the fair at the age of 62 to begin his work with the State Fair
History Museum.
His father, Harry J. Frost, was a food
concessionaire and later superintendent of commercial space for the
State Fair and his grandfather, Hiram D. Brown, founder of Brown and
Bigelow, did business with the fair."
