Here is another sprint car fireworks show going on tonight at Silver Dollar Speedway. The promoter has been putting ads on the local TV stations. He is having a bit of fun with them also wearing a big ol' cowboy hat and mimicking Cal Worthington. Oh water stations will be set up with free bottled water handed out and trams will be available to transport the fans from the parking lot.

Oh and check the prices. The parking is free also.

It would be nice to see a 50 lapper. The problem is most cars have either a 27 or 28 gallon gallon outlaw fuel tank. most of them would run out of fuel .

The main issue no 40 or 50 laps races are run is money. The longer races historically paid a bigger purse. So until we can get 4000 people in the stands at The PAS on a regular basis, I wouldn't count on it. Happy 4th everyone! See you at the track.

They have had 40 lap races before with the same tanks that they are using now. ,,,,,, As a matter of fact . ,,,, If they ran to many laps under the yellow flag. ,,,, There was a RED FLAG for Fuel only. ,,,,, ZZ

Why is it that all the fair grounds in California have free parking at there Sprint car races. ,,,, EXCEPT at the PARRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY . ,,,, $8.00 BUCKS. ,,,,,,, UNLESS YOU ARE GOING THERE TO GAMBLE. ,,,, Then there is no charge for parking. !!!!!!. ,,,,,, You know this is just a honest Question that deserves a honest answer . Why does the fairgrounds charge for parking. ,,,,, And is the track getting a kick back from the fair board. ??????????. ,,,,, This can only be answered by someone that is on the fair board ,,,,, or someone within the PAS office. ,,,,,, ZZ. 7/4/13

NOT TRUE, Ventura charges $5 and Stockton 99 dirt track may be as high as $10 or more when the WOO came to town. . I tend to stay away from the facilities that gauge for parking. The Dodgers come to mind, when they doubled their parking from $10 to $20, not sure I have been back since. Also, when PAS raised their ticket and parking prices, I do not go as often. Santa Maria, Tulare, Bakersfield, Hanford, Ca Motor Speedway, do not charge parking fees and for the most part have reasonable ticket and concession ticket prices. But than again, PAS is free tonight for residents of the city wink Does this mean the sprint car fans are subsidizing the fireworks and racing for Perris residents. Where I live, (Thousand Oaks, the residents and visitors (BOTH) are not charged for the fireworks show, parking or fair. Go with Damion tonight

Rumor has it that OSS and Rt.66 don't charge for parking either....I think they are fairgrounds.

How about a 50 lapper and I will split the front gate with the racers?.....full inversion.....20 car feature....soft red for fuel at 25 laps....no tire rule....potential for BIG purse. Unlimited sprints and supported by limited midgets only.....late start....old school?????....just a thought or future rumor?....could be fun Scotty

That would be awesome Scotty - (PS any format with a full inversion ie Trophy Cup, Billet cup has some of the best racing there is). I like spending my $ at your tracks, your tickets prices are reasonable, parking free, concessions not excessive, plus we all know you put your heart and soul into the race. PAS has long since overpriced itself for me to attend regularly, but they do seem to have good crowds lately, but the night I went this year, only had 3 heats frown for CRA

Money =is= talking here, and I =am= listening. But I do have a sense that a lot of curfew-conscious track operators, as well as cost-conscious owners and owner-drivers, have been resistant to longer races and inversions for the past decade or so owing to number-crunching. (We're not seeing many of these shows in northern and central California, either.) ...... Added to concerns about direct costs are those about lost revenue at the front =and= back gates, where a lot of money is made from the crew people, families and close friends of the people driving the various taxicabs and go-karts. I applaud Scott's willingness to take a shot at this, but wonder how many times he can afford to do so... or whether he might at =all= if he puts a pencil to paper (or uses an Excel spreadsheet). ...... I'd love to see the clock turned back to Allen, Billy, the other Billy, Bobby, and forty more 283 Chevvies and 270 Offies in and around the "lakes" and TT jumps, but it's not 1963 anymore.

And what I want to add to that admitted "logical negativism" above is that I think Don Flanders was on the right track even though our email exchanges might not have lead anyone reading them to think so. He was dead-on right that it's getting way too expensive for all but about a dozen (that many?) owners to run for a full season.

My response to Don was regularly, "How do you set effective limits on costs in any one sanctioning group if the other (usually bigger or "nationwide" ) groups allow owners to throw a million to two million a year at a team to maintain their competitive edge?" If you were a Chaffin, an Alexander, a Bowman & Snyder, a Jory, a Watt or a DeBoer, would you just abandon your ability to race with the Big Boys from Indiana in the spring and fall?

And would you -- as a promoter -- be all that comfortable with a local version of what Tony George tried to do in the mid-'90s... in front of an audience that wants to see the "most powerful" and "fastest" cars out there... supported by the most technically capable -- and that means costly -- expertise, material and transport (we call this "logistics" now) available?

(We all saw what happened at Watsonville a few weeks ago when a bunch of restricted 410s from the neighborhood were all but overwhelmed by a bunch of "visitors." Couldn't have been much fun for the locals.)

Those who have the financial wherewithall to do so can be expected to want to up the ante. Thus, ought we to realistically expect there there will be fewer and fewer who can afford to up it to a half million or more to run a west coast sprint car -- to win -- all year long, whether it's got a 360, a 410 or a "Corvette crate" motor?

I know, I know. Emotions will always trump facts when it comes to something that excites us. "Racing is a woman," one of the top local drivers of the good old days used to say. (He won Indy twice, and his first name is the same as mine.)

I find your concern for the promoters kind of moving Raj but since I don't know you by sight, how many URA races have you been to because that's all you Cali boy's have to do to make this deal work is to show up! The "positive negative" stuff you seem to dwell on will work itself out in time if you do.

If we being the fans fill the stands I'm damn sure Scotty will build the rest. We're missing Bud and the twins and the sheriff tonight but were have a good time . I pick the Demon.
We need more sprint car racing at our home track.

I applaud everyone's enthusiasm, of course. All we need is about 5,000 more of us. (Fireworks time. Yippeeeeee.)

Well just to make this a little more understandable.....if we could put 5,000 a$$es in the nearly 8,000 seats at OSS the winners share at 50% would be north of $7,000 payout at the back gate that night....tonight the same cars are running for a $2,500 check in the mail......or last week at OSS $2550 to the winner(Brody Roa) at the back gate. It is a shared risk deal but worked well for years at that joint in Gardena. Also allows for a budget to advertise to a wider demographic and help develop the drivers into the names they deserve and connect with a new fan base that craves personalities. Does require trust on both sides and that is probably the hardest part to get done. Done properly this concept could raise purses to 80's/90's CRA levels (4k$ to win) week in and week out for the Bad Ass Sprint cars of the URA. Chew on it ,rip it apart ,tell me how it won't work, but remember.....Aggie made it work ....we will see! Scotty
