St Croix Falls, WI – The Open Wheel Nationals is a race that the UMSS Series as well as some of the Midwest's best racers circle on their calendar. With $5,000 and bragging rights for the year on the line, racers gear up for the two day event, bringing their best equipment to the track in search of the big trophy and big check. At the end of Saturday night's A Main, Sheboygan, Wisconsin's Scotty Thiel kept the title and the money in state after some quick thinking and a well handling racecar gave him the lead on lap 25. For Thiel, the race hadn't been as great as he'd hoped up until lap 25. With a good handling racecar, Thiel had progressed from 8th to 6th on a racetrack that was black slick from top to bottom save for a small patch at the bottom of turn one and two. Scotty had been running the top, using his momentum to keep pace with the front pack, while waiting for the opportunity to try the low side and advance positions. That opportunity came after a caution stopped the race on the 25th lap, when leader Chris Graf expired an engine. Thiel moved up to 5th on the ensuing restart, planning on using the low groove when the green flew. As the field came back to green, new race leader Ben Schmidt had his engine stumble, causing a chain reaction that saw positions two through four check up or take to the high side of the track. Thiel was positioned perfectly to advance, hitting his mark on corner entry and powering his Scott Thiel Motorsports #64 Triple X through the moisture at the bottom of one and two. With the front four stuck in the black slick middle or extreme high groove, Thiel blew by all four cars and took the lead for good. With clean air ahead of him, Thiel was smooth and steady over the remaining ten laps en route to the $5,000 payday, the biggest of his career.

Scotty would like to thank his family and crew for all their support, as well as marketing partners Complete Water Inc, Professional Plating Inc, Scott Thiel Builders and many many more. Follow Scotty's results online at www.scottythiel.com
