(RTF Speedway, Fernley Nv, June 22, 2013) 11 year old sensation Michael "Buddy" Kofoid put on a spectacular drive at RTF Speedway Saturday night and drove away from the field, leading by a half lap until point leader Robert Cooney slapped the turn two wall bringing out the yellow midway through the feature. On the restart, Dan Simpson restarted outside Buddy with Jeff Macedo in third. At the drop of the flag Dan raced Buddy deep into turn one, but Buddy was having none of it and pulled away to a commanding lead finishing a half lap ahead of second place Jeff Macedo and third place Danielle Simpson, to score his first ever sprint car win in only his third start!. It was quite the drive and very impressive to say the least. This kid is something special..............

A main results: #3 Michael Kofoid, #3L Jeff Macedo, #6up Danielle Simpson, #4 Dan Simpson, #6 Bob Cooney, #9 Robert Cooney, #17 James O'Connor(dnf), #17s Shaun Ternora(dns)

I have been reading this forum for years and have never commented or replied . As a parent of a sprint car driver that started at a very young 14 yrs old. Having raced for 8 yrs in a outlaw kart and 3 yrs in a mini sprint. prior. then getting legally emancipated as to fufill the insurace companys requirments. i would comment what the hell are you thinking!, You should not be commended on your efforts but turned in to child protective services!, Sprintcar racing is a adult sport that requires adult ways of thinking and adult ways of emotion. It is dangerous beyond the capability a young mind can see. Dan Simpson you have lost your mind and can ruin Sprintcar racing for the entire country!, the insurance company's and attorneys would just eat this up.As well as every mother and father in America. I realize and promote the fact that Michael has talent and is having fun, however he can do that in a race division that better suits his age and growth pattern as a racer. We/I want him to succeed. I would not feel comfortable racing against him as I would never want to accidentally injure a child. If I were to do it over again I would have waited another year or two . The development of the mind and body is what it takes to be in sprint car racing. It is physical and emotional and your young child cannot see that. As time goes you will be pushing him beyond what his young mind is ready for. I personally question why 11 yr old kids can even go in the pits!, good luck Michael and be safe.
