I will be uploading my photos from the weekend as soon as I create the galleries so check gotomn.com and they should be on there around 9pm tonight (Tuesday July 17).
This has been a bittersweet week full of highs and lows.
The good stuff:
My son-in-law is on a flight to Ft. McCoy, Wisconsin, via stops in Kuwait and Germany as I type this message. It's a huge relief for the entire family to have him on the way home.
We just got a tentative contract offer today and we have been without one since 2004 so I haven't gotten anything in the way of raises for three years. My wife and I are happy about that. Maybe I won't have to drive the old Ranger much longer LOL
I got invited up to the press conference to take photos of Dale Earnhardt Jr. on Thursday. For Nascar fans and specifically Jr. fans that would be the thrill of a lifetime but I was more excited to see Mike Nutzmann win the Late Model Feature than hob nobbing with celebrities. All I could think of is "you've got one shot Stan, don't screw up your camera settings." Fortunately the flash was still working on Thursday.
The not so good stuff:
DSL H*ll. I have heard horror stories about farming tech support out to foreign countries but never had a problem personally. Now I can join the ranks of those who have been through customer service h*ll, dots not features as Tom Bernard at KQ would say
$350 to $400 for a flash so I can take photos for the remainder of the season. Unexpected expenses like that happen to everyone whether it's a car, home repair, appliance or (you fill in the blank). I'll cancel a couple of racing trips and do my best to get something as soon as possible.
The good stuff still outweighs the bad and I've got a lot to be happy about. I'm just sharing my frustrations with you, my message board friends, so I can get it off my chest.
Enjoy the photos and we'll see you at the races. I'm off for a couple weeks so I can be with the family when Nick gets home. I want to be there to see the look on my granddaughter's face when she sees her Daddy live and in person instead of on a video or computer screen.
