Susquehanna, PA – For "Bad" Chad Layton, 2013 has had a somewhat disjointed start. A veteran of the Central PA Sprint Car Wars, Layton is used to having many more nights under his belt heading into the busiest stretch of his year, PA Speedweek. This year, car owner Dave Middleswarth has cut back the schedule on his team, with Layton now only running the potent Middleswarth car Saturday nights at Port Royal Speedway in search of yet another track championship. This left Friday and Sunday nights open for Chad. Enter his father Jim. With equipment ready to roll, Jim and Chad brought out the KO Motorsports / Wholesale Auto Racing #5L and have been campaigning the car on and off recently. On Sunday night, Chad and the crew rolled into Susquehanna Speedway Park for a evening contest featuring the PA Posse and the AllStars. When the dust settled, it was the Layton team enjoying their first win together of 2013. "We rolled out this new Triple X car with brand new DMI rear ends on Tuesday", said Chad. "It took a little tweaking from where we were at originally out of the box, but tonight it felt like we found the balance were looking for. The car worked great and I felt comfortable right off the bat tonight." Layton was rim riding throughout the 30 lap, $3,500 to win feature where he was challenged early and often by Tim Shaffer and Brent Marks. Both drivers tried valiantly to get by Chad, but the combo of car and driver proved too good to be beaten. "The cushion was wicked and you needed to be careful. It was a real tricky curb and I was glad to be up front."
Chad and the 5L team are scheduled to take on PA Speedweek, which features 8 races in 9 nights with big money on the line every night beginning Friday, 6/28. Follow Chad's results online at www.chadlayton.com
