I believe that Scott Burns/URA could make a "California Sprint Week" happen. A one week event with Orange Show, Vivtorville, Perris, Santa Maria, Tulare and Hanford as the tracks. Indiana Sprint Week is a huge event every year I am positive something like this would be just as big in California.

This has been discussed here before and I like the idea. I like it a lot. However it is not likely to happen.

1. Travel distaces. The following is a list of the tracks where the Indiana Sprint Week races are scheduled with the distances from Indianapolis:

Gas City 78 Miles

Kokomo 60 Miles

Lawrenceburg 98 Miles

Terre Haute 77 Miles

Putnumville 46 Miles

Bloomington 51 Miles

Haubstadt 153 Miles

The racers that participate in the Indiana Sprint Week go home each night and sleep in their own beds. That isn't likely in California, especially when dealing with Los Angeles traffic.

2nd reason: "Okay promoters, which one of you wants the Wednesday night date? Hmm, aw come on guys, someone has to take Wednesday. Okay then, who wants Thursday night? Wow, sure is quiet in here. Okay, how about Friday? Scotty did you raise your hand? What's that? You'll take Friday only if Perris gets Saturday. Okay we will pencil you in for Friday. Okay, anybody interested in Saturday night. Wow, everybody's suddenly grown hands.

3rd reason: You can't create a buzz when you have to depend on the sports editors from five communities to cooperate to create buzz. It is much easier to sell papers to Dodger and Angel fans than it is to try and create an interest in something you know very little about.

Okay I'll get off the soap box now, Harry
