On this Friday when you hear a roar and the ground trembles in Toledo it won’t be because of the road -construction on I-475. It will be the earth shaking power of the MSA supermodifieds and the Auto Value Super Sprints resounding from the high banks of the Toledo Speedway to take part in “the world’s fastest short track show”. The annual event is the only time in the year the sanctions co-compete and gives fans a chance to see the both the supermodifieds and winged sprint cars in action on the ultra fast ½ mile. It’s an opportunity to see the best of both worlds and see some of the fastest cars in short track racing. The race will be the 4th event for the MSA supermodifieds defending champion, Trent Stephens taking home two of the first three wins. For The Auto Value Super Sprints the show will be the 3rd with veteran Mike Ling winning both the first two races. Drivers from both divisions look forward the challenging the sometimes intimidating track and the event often bolsters a very strong car count in both the supermodified and sprint cars. Several drivers who typically do not race in either sanction have the event slated on their schedule. At Toledo the more nimble sprint cars have typically been the fastest, but the stars of MSA will be gunning for the quick time coming off a new track record at the Lorain County speedway last weekend. The standing track record for the supermodifieds was set by Chris Perley in 2009 at time of 12.893 seconds around the half mile which is an average speed of 139.7 mph, the sprint car record is held by Charlie Schultz and was set in 2011 with a time of 12.389 second s or a 145.3 mph average for the lap. Come Out to see if the records will fall and hang on for a wild ride.
