Any good sprint car tracks in the Madison area? I'm gonna be up there for work and was looking to watch a race or two.

Not really. Beaver Dam raceway is close (45 min) from Madison, but they are racing Late Models this weekend. http://www.wismotorsports.net/
Angell Park speedway is not racing this weekend.

Closest to Madison is Madison Intl raceway(paved), late models most weekends.

Living in Madison, I can tell you the area is not a racing hotbed.

If you feel like taking a bit short of a two hour drive to Plymouth, WI, Tony Stewart is supposed to be running with the IRA during their portion of the show on the 15th. Just a thought.....

Indy cars are racing this Sat. afternoon at the Milwaukee Mile--easy 60-75 mile ride from Madison. You didn't indicate how long you'll be in Madison, if longer than just this weekend: check the web sites for IRA sprint cars, Badger Midgets, Angell Park Speedway, and Wilmot Raceway ( Wilmot sometimes has sprint car races that aren't IRA sanctioned). If you can attend a race at Angell Park don't miss it because it's a great place and the midget racing is normally very good especially if the shows are co-sanctioned by Power i & USAC.

All depends on when you are up there. Angell Park definetely is a great place to go with a TON of history. Too bad you aren't up in the area when the IRA is at the Dodge County Fairgrounds (Also in Beaver Dam). That place has easily become one of my favorite places to watch sprint cars. There are a lot of pavement tracks around the Madison area. Usually have to go north to get to some good dirt tracks. Northern WI still has the best dirt tracks in the state IMO

If you are getting up in the area on the 23rd then Angell Park is a must! That night has USAC/POWRi/Badger midgets. Should be a real good car count. Its only about a 10 min drive from the east side of Madison. Keep in touch and I can show you around!

Seeing you're going to be in the Madison area for a while (??) and if you're looking for some racing during the day on Saturdays or Sundays you might want to broaden your horizons and go to Road America in Elkhart Lake. Rd Am is one of the finest road racing tracks (four miles long) in North America. If interested check their web site at WWW.roadamerica.com. Rd Am is within five miles of Plymouth where winged sprint cars are raced on Sat. nights. There's also a great daytime event at the Milwaukee Mile on Friday July 12th and Saturday July 13th. It's the Miller Meet ( Harry Miller Indy Cars & Engines from the 1920's and 30's--not Miller Beer--but you can bring your own beverages). This is a great annual event that normally draws 50-60 cars that are driven up to 75 MPH on the Milwaukee Mile. The old Indy Cars including numerous Watson Roadsters are out on the track and in the paddock for photos. If you're interested check out their web site which is www.harrymillerclub.com.

Angell Park is a gold mine. You should try to go there as much as possible.

If you can make it to the IRA race July 12th @ dodge county fairgrounds, I highly recommend doing so.
