Rain on Friday... no Grove. DOUBLE DARN! No prob... got to know Yuengling Light Lager & 2 Brothers pizza. Saturday... stopped by the Grove for some pictures nonetheless on the way to the Eastern museum on Saturday. Quickly identified as a tourist by a sprint car owner from Missouri who followed me to the museum. Sorry I was so turned around, Gary! The museum is such a great place to go to. I had a smile on my face the entire time. MUST VISIT. On to Gettysburg for the battlefield museum. Incredible! The intro movie narrated by Morgan Freeman had me on the edge of tears. Very thought-provoking. On to Lincoln. Took a ton of pics in the pits pre-race. I about walked into a parked car that literally shocked me. Hopefully I didn't look stupid when I looked up lol. Well... as you probably know a #14 car with a famous driver (my favorite driver, BTW) showed up to play. Great to see him run! The driver skill all night was amazing. They run hard & don't punt each other like I've seen elsewhere. I'm sure it happens. Rahmer was getting pressure & still running his as&*&$ off. A little surprising to hear all the boos... I clapped for the legend & appreciated his effort. Dewease was moving in both heat & feature, btw. I know he's in rumors & all... they looked good to me. Thanks to Ken Clouser for his hospitality (see him for heating/AC... 717-938-9673, btw). On to Susky for USAC. FANTASTIC racing. ARDC was ok but not my thing. USAC heat with Darland was as good as it gets. NO ONE was winning heats from the front row... when was the last time the WoO could say that? Great racing... nice sliders... running all over the track. I thought I'd like USAC & I did. Wish they ran TX like the old CRA/USAC days. I'd be at every race! I was home by 10:45 both nights even with the driving; they know how to run a program in PA. I saw a lot of dust but it happens. I heavily suggest doing a PA trip & Travelocity... book in advance... not too expensive for the whole trip. Best racing I've seen in too many years to count. Will be back.

A trip to PA should be on EVERYONE's agenda at some point in their sprint career, fan or else. I am surprised you didn't have more interaction with the natives, by and large they are a great bunch and most of them have never heard of this place, lol. Nice timing to have caught USAC as well, great bonus for ya'....

Sounds good, with ya all the way. I spend my summers in Connecticut & always make a Pa.sprint car trip. EMMR is great & I agree on Fast Freddy. Some people say he's a dirty driver but I haven't been following sprint cars long enough to have witnessed any of that. I like him cause he's an old fart like me & He's GOOD... also cause he reminds me of "cheers" Cliff Clavin....Pissed me off when some people cheered when he wrecked at PR a couple of years ago. Glad to see him kicking ass now. I got a DVD of his WoO win from last row in 2009, only trouble with that was cameraman didn't film him till he was about 5th.
Going for part of Speedweek, wish I could do WoO nites but other annual festivities conflict

Come on MSPN... the date & timing weren't an accident! Found a weekend with a little diversity (URC, ARDC, USAC) to go with the weekly 410s & booked it 2 months ago. As for locals... I sat in crowded grandstands with a lot of people so I heard a LOT of interesting things. Most around me were great but some were quite outspoken (to put it in a polite way). Never would have guessed it based on watching them post online for 10 years LOL. One big thing... I haven't seen better weekly racing so if they brag... I back them up on it. They've got their home tracks figured out for sure.

I went to Grandview last year for USAC & midgets, that was fun but I wish there were more locals to compete in non-wing. Which is why I really want to go to Indiana Speedweek some day, hard to fit in my schedule now

Best part of the weekend for me, besides sleeping in my own bed, was the false hope that Montieth Fan got when he passed Steady Freddie enroot to a runner up position...
Opinions may vary...

Yea. Pa. is beautiful. Something like 56% forest. I get misty eyed every year entering Appalachians in eastern Ohio after driving thru arid Midwest from Denver

I agree WIsprinter. Nice post, good info. I too, along with another buddy from Texas and one from Kansas are going to visit and enjoy PA sprint racing at the Grove next month. Going to be a good trip.

Nice to hear posts like this because its usually people bashing PA. Glad you enjoyed your visit and what we have the luxury of enjoying every week, with the exception of USAC.

Finally, out of the home, and back to my own home with fixed eyes and ears,Amen, to all people who wish to see racing in Pa. don't miss Speedweeks, get pit passes if you can can afford it and you will have a great time, everytime,at each race, you might even get to help some of the crews. If you are a true fan going from car and hanging out ,out of everyones way,you will see and hear things you won't see or read about in print. A lot of b.s. between some teams all with a smile on their face. I live here and have never missed it ,well worth the trip, but bring some $$ its not that cheap, but I've spent more at Knoxville in five days but thats another story. Good Luck. Bet

Stayed at this hotel last year for the open and it was good. About 10 minutes from the track right off the turnpike. Had a great little diner close by and a decent bar with good wings called Moe's Tavern. They even had Simpson shirts.
