Crow Ends Tenure as ASCS Sooner Region Director

Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (June 5, 2013) – The only thing that is constant is change, the latest example of which finds the ASCS Sooner Region under the direction of someone other than Dennis Crow since the Regional series’ inception in 2001.

Both Crow and ASCS management agreed to part ways early this week. With Crow’s departure, Tommy Long will cease ASCS Sooner Region duties as well, citing health issues among the primary reasons for the change.

“I’m very thankful to Emmett Hahn and the entire Hahn family for the opportunities they’ve given me over the years,” Crow commented.“I’ve had the opportunity to work with a lot of the best people in the racing business.”

A veteran of working the Tulsa Shootout and Chili Bowl each winter for nearly 25 years along with Long, Crow was named ASCS Sooner Region director when the series launched in 2001 and was in his 13th year of guiding the series.Long has been on the ASCS Sooner Regional trail for the past 11 years, with both working the ASCS Lone Star Regional series as well for several years.

“I have to thank all the racers and their teams for their support of the Sooner Region over the past 13 years, they’re the ones that have made the ASCS Sooner Region one of the toughest Regional tours in the country,” Crow explained.

Crow added that, “I also have to thank Joe Landon at American Bank of Oklahoma and Bill Jewell at The Oil Medics, their support has been a major part of the success of the Regional series.”

In his 13th year as director of the ASCS Sooner Region, Crow ranked as the longest-tenured ASCS Regional director.

“I wish the new Sooner crew the best, they’ve got a great bunch of drivers to work with,” Crow concluded.

While the ASCS Sooner Region will finish the balance of the year under new leadership, Crow plans to help work the upcoming USAC Southwest Sprint Car events scheduled for August 21-24 at S. Coffeyville, Wichita and Dodge City.
