Kaley Gharst – Plenty of Racing Options This Weekend!

(Bill W) May 21, 2013 – The Jeremy Scadden #6 team and driver Kaley Gharst are eying their racing options this weekend after making their first trek to the Knoxville Raceway last Saturday night. Unfortunately, their plans to run Huset's Speedway near Brandon, South Dakota were washed away Sunday night. Options this weekend include the UMSS or Sprint Invaders Series, Knoxville and Huset's.

A stacked field of 32 360's were pitside at Knoxville Saturday night. "There were a lot of good cars there with a lot of the ASCS guys in town," says Kaley. "Then you had (Brian) Brown at the rest of them too. There were a lot of tough cars."

The Decatur, Illinois driver would come out late in group qualifying and register the 15th quick time of the night. "We started out going out late to time trials," says Kaley. "We were a little bit off on the car and the fueling of the motor. We didn't get timed in very good. That put us deep in the field to start with."

Kaley ran a solid heat race, winning it going away from inside row two. "We had a pretty good heat there," he says. "We had (Logan) Forler and Brown in there with us. I was able to get a decent start there and get to second. I was able to use the bottom of one and two to catch Forler and get by him. We had the car pretty decent."

Starting in row seven of the 18-lap feature was a tall order, but Kaley would advance to 11th at the checkers. "We thought the track was going to slick off more than it did," he says. "It ended up staying pretty good, so we were way too tight. We just didn't do too well. I tried to make some things happen on the start and ended up falling back a few spots. That made it even tougher on us."

The racing options are plentiful this weekend. It looks like the team will be running four nights. "We're going to run Friday at Independence with the Sprint Invaders or at St. Croix with UMSS," says Kaley. "Saturday, we may go to Knoxville, or we may go to Rice Lake (UMSS). Sunday, I think we're going to Burlington (Sprint Invaders) and back to Huset's on Sunday. We're kind of up in the air about Friday and Saturday right now."

Seems like running at Wilmot with the IRA may be something to look into. Then 2 1/2 hrs North at 141 Speedway in Francis Creek, WI on Sunday.
