To be continued…

This past weekend saw the Ironwood
Builders #3/Billy Alley machine compete at US 36 Speedway on Friday and Butler
County Speedway on Saturday.“It’s
always nice to pull into a different track and race in front of fans you don’t
normally get to race in front of.It’s
good for the whole team and it’s good for the sponsors as well” said
Billy.“Unfortunately when you draw the
last number possible and the track is lock down fast, you don’t always get the
results you desire.”The heat race saw
Billy start dead last and with little passing in the heat races, that’s where
he would finish.Up next was the B-Main
and the track was still pretty narrow so starting 10th and finishing
6th to transfer was a tall order.Billy ended up finishing the B in the 8th spot.“US 36 is a racy track, it’s not how we
wanted to finish, but it was nice to roll the car into the trailer, move on and
get ready for Butler on Saturday.Bob,
Travis & Joel worked their tails off to get the car put back together and
on the track and then to get everything ready for Saturday, it’s nice to have a
crew I can count on.”
Saturday would see the team head north to Butler County
Speedway to race with the Nebraska 360 Sprint Car Series.“It was nice to get to a race and time trial
instead of a draw” Time Trials would see Billy in the 4th position,
putting him on the inside 2nd row for the heat race. For those people that don’t know about the NE
360’s series, every week you time trial and then the heats are lined up
according to the time trial. The heat
races invert the top 4 cars and then the top 2 cars transfer to the dash. You run the dash for cash and then the winner
draws the invert number for the cars to start the feature. The heat race saw Billy start in the 3rd
position and finish in the 3rd position.“After the heat, the car was ok but not
great, we were fortunate enough to make it into the dash after another driver
had some misfortune”The dash would see
Billy start in the 6th position, after the 2nd lap he was
up to 4th and then hit the cushion in turns 1 & 2 and the right
rear tire got packed with mud forcing the Lincoln, NE native to pull the car to
the infield. The invert number was drawn
and Billy would start on the outside front row for the feature.“It was going to be a good race it’s too bad
the rain showed up and cancelled the rest of the night.”With only 1 lap in the books, the series will
look to make the rained out feature up at their next event June 22, so this
article is to be continued…..
