i WOULD LIKE TO SEE ABOUT THE WORST TRACKS PEOPLE HAVE BEEN TO. MY WORST TRACK WOULD BE AT JACKSON MICHIGAN. WE WENT TO OUR FIRST AN ONLY NASCAR RACE EVER ON 8-16-1969. SAW WHAT IS NOW nascar nationwide race. We noticed that Midgets were racing at Jackson and decided to go. The track was a short asphalt track and was narrow. That was the good part, The main straight went uphill with no banking. The back straight went downhill with reverse banking on 3 and 4 corner. Track looked like one day someone decided to build a track and without a grader made one. I thought I would get a hot dog, but saw the ketchup looked like it was getting green in color. There was a chance of rain in area so they decided to run a feature first. On first lap they came down back straight into the reverse bank corner. A midget driven by John Deering ran over a tire and flipped end for end into the dark. John Deering died in this crash. The last year you could drive a midget with out a roll cage was 1969. John Deering family was setting right in front of us. I never saw a ambulance at the track and we left to get the heck out of there and do not know if they finished the race. Then the cup race got rain and we left that race also.

I've been to somewhere around 320 different tracks. In my opinion, any discussion about "worst race track" begins and ends with Pennsboro, WV.

Exactly! I will go to any race track once and every one usually has its positives and negatives some more than the other!

This weekend I am going to a track (Fernley Raceyway in Nevada) I haven't been to in about 7 years and I hoping it is better than ever! Smile

Everyone should be happy we still have dirt oval tracks to go to!

Looking forward to the new Golden State King of the
West series schedule!

Montpelier, IN..... Racing Gast City on Friday in a 1200cc was always an awesome experience... Unfortunately, we had to race Montplier on Saturday night and we never left with a complete car because the track so was horribly rutted...

I loved the racing there and we had many great memories as a family, but as far as facilities and fan concern, Manzanita was the worst. I don't think Keith Hall ever put a penny into the facilities, the bathrooms, concessions, and as far as the show, I don't think he ever had a concern for the fan. I did love the many times we went there for 39 years but it was just something we had to overlook and put up with. From talking to racers and such also it appears he didn't have much concern for the drivers either. Just an opinion.
My wife told me if I went to one more Sprint Car race
she would leave me.................I'm sure gonna miss
that ol' gal.

Talk about having to back er' in, it's a sumbitch to get around all of those cranes right now and make a decent lap time.

Went only once to XX Speedway in California, MO. Short, narrow track, racing wasn't very good. Fights all over the stands and on the track, obnoxious fans everywhere, and the 60+ year old woman sitting two rows in front of me was so drunk she pissed all over herslf as she sat. The sheriff's deputy working security said it was a quiet night. Never going back there again.

I have been to XX Speedway about 5 times and have never seen a fight in the stands or on the track. It is narrow and the racing isn't always the greatest, but the rest of your claims are not true on a nightly basis.

Bubzilla hit this one on the head. Not sure if it was intentional or not though. This thread is a perfect example of why tracks are closing left and right. People continue to bitch and bitch and then quit showing up. Keep it up people and you will have nothing left. Support your local dirt track!!!!!

I was at Manzy on a number of occasions. We used to joke about "what time" the store across the street would get help up that night! Only was in the stands on one occasion and it certainly was a "rustic" atmosphere.

I hear it all the time at the tracks both here and in S Cali about how Manzy was loved, and it's still missed by fans and drivers alike. Check it out..http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RZqGbrj87Jk

Probably the fairgrounds track in Grass Valley, CA (used to be called Ernie Purcell Mem Speedway, I think). Closed last time I heard.

Been to over 100 tracks, all have good and bad. I can list several things that aggrevate me about the all-great Eldora too.
