I know from my perspective it was just sad watching Sammy and Steve at Eldora when they were here a week or so ago (at least the Friday show - couldn't make Saturday). The outside wall was like a magnet for Sammy's car, and Steve didn't run well either. Seeing them both side-by-side tagging the A-main with provisionals hurt too.

I still have hopes for "Slammin". He was whupping butt last year. Even considering bad luck at Knoxville, he showed me some of the best driving (was it Friday nite?) when he recovered after a near wall/ all over the cushion/ every way but loose turn 3 adventure without losing his spot, eventually passing Wayne Johnson who almost put him into wall to begin with....

Could it be new Eagle chassis?

61 here and will be 62 this fall and I concur, time does eventually catch up with everyone regardless of past accomplishments. Obviously as somebody around their same age who has been watching them for a long, long, time I want to see them both hang in there and be competitive. I think going forward us old guys should walk a little taller anytime Steve and Sammy win a race or have a good run. We might not be doing that for much longer, you never know.

With ya all the way on that one, buddy. Thats why I root for Sammy & Fast Freddy. Not really a big Kinser fan, but if he starts winning, I'll be happy!

Even though those guys are a few years younger than me I looked up to them like they were superhuman for years. Now I look at them and the first thought is to offer a comfortable chair and footstool. Nevertheless, they've still got my respect for the simple fact they're still out there running up and down the highway making their living racing. Hell, I can barely drag my tired ol' butt down to the transit center to get on the bus and nap all the way into work anymore. I was on my feet from 3:30pm Friday until 11:30pm taking photos after spending the winter on the recliner and that just about did me in. Speaking of Steve and Sammy I got a nice shot last Friday night that I'm using as my personal wallpaper both at work and at home. That's probably one of the best things about photography, I've always got cool wallpapers. wink

I can still dance like a wildman, did it all weekend at San Diego blues/cajun/zydeco/rockabilly fest (doesn't hurt til I stop), but walking is a killer. Standing even worse. Started using a cane about 2 weeks ago, more than ready for knee replacements.

Hang in there, podnah!

It's either the Eagle chassis or the tires. Since Sammy's probably run (and won) on hundreds of compounds of tires over the years and only one new Eagle chassis ... the only logical conclusion is its the Eagle. Plus, everyone is struggling with the Eagle chassis, so he's not alone. Hopefully he switches back to his Maxim soon so we can see him running up front of the A-main instead of the B-main in his Eagle.

Same can be said for Danny Lasoski. Hasn't made the A-Main of the Nationals three years in a row. If Lasoski can get into the championship race with 50 laps to work with (hasn't run a 50 lapper yet) he would be dangerous, even from 24th. But perhaps time is catching up with these guys in their mid-late 50's. It was hard watching Dale Earnhardt and Richard Petty in their time as well.

I dont think Sammy is running a "new" Eagle design.

Looks like Sammy did pretty good against all the WoO and PA's best tonight...

Sammy ran Eagle Chassis with Roth Motorsports.

Sammy has been quick time with two stellar fields the last couple of nights (Knoxville and Lincoln) It might be a bit early to discount him and put him out to graze......

...with both Steve Kinser and Sammy Swindell?? Other than Steve's win at El Paso both drivers cant seem to even crack the top 10 on any given night let alone the top 15. Are they just not as aggressive as they used to be or is equipment failing them? I havent seen a WoO race yet this year but both seems to be struggling big time!

Will always be two of the best and are not thru winning yet.The format and level field of cars have changed sprint car racing.Sammys is still one of the top mechanics and Steve had Karl who was a great inovator and is a legend.Age catches everyone but these two have a lot left.I watched and older gentlemen named Loyd Beckman who appeared near 70 climb in a race car with help to prepare for the Masters Classic and as soon as his helmet went on He became 50 years younger and drove like He raced 100 times a year. When He came back in the smile as they helped him out of his car was unforgetable.Sammy and Steve have gave more to racing fans than any other drivers and cheer or boo people still pay to see them. The WOO even tho they both tried other forms of racing and even tried to support rival groups has been built around them and I have a feeling neither of them are doing it for the money but for their love of the sport. The Nascar boys go to the gym with personal trainers and real drivers race to get in shape as they havent got time as they prepare for next race.
