What a dominating win, 8 seconds ahead of the second place car. Did you hear Donny give Ricky Warner thanks along with Tony Stewart for letting Ricky help him. Congratulations to Donny Schatz and crew!

Qualified - 24th
Heat race - Front row (luck of the draw)
Dash - Pole (luck of the draw)
A Feature - Pole (wouldn't say he really 'earned' this)
Not sure I'd use the term dominating, lucky is a better term that comes to mind. Do you think he would have won if he had been deeper in the field? Oh well, I'd rather be lucky than good any day of the week, so congrats on being lucky and being fast!
I've noticed in the last 30 days that the teams have figured out the new RR tire and its back to the same old WoO format - front row wins the feature.

Congrats to King Donny and crew as well. That was an awesome performance tonight. Lapped up to 8th or 9th I believe and might have gotten to 6th or so if it would have stayed green the whole way. Keep it up and the month of money will be very lucrative for the 15 team.

The King's Royal format is set up for luck, has been most of the years. Was set up for luck for most if not all of the wins for Steve, Sammy, Haud, Joey, and anyone else that has won one of them. Just the way it is.
You are right about the format. Many of the WoO features the rest of the year will be won from the front row.

Supaschatz is right; but back in 1997; when steve crashed on friday; brought out the car to be run on the mile aand won !!! was that luck because of the car or him starting up front? mike cars are too low to the ground to work on high banked race tracks like eldora; so I say that was most of driver; some car and some luck !!!jmo

That was some fortunate luck being penalized a row in the dash and getting it back after Madsen was (wrongly) penalized for jumping I would think in a just world Kemenah should have been moved to the front row since Schatz was penalized then rewarded It may or may not have changed the outcome since Schatz drove away in the A
Way to go Terry McCarl a 2nd and a 3rd at the Big "E" passing Joey with all that Mopar money was awesome. Next month Terry is going to win the nationals! and the finally dedicate one to all the boo birds!!!!

I actually thought the same thing and wondered why the next guy in line didn't get a chance. Who knows?
Anyway, no it didn't and wouldn't have mattered. Even after Madsen jumped the second time, Schatz still had the lead in turn two before the yellow came out. He was the fastest car on the track and it was lights out no matter who started in front of him.

The difference between this format and the original was they used to invert the top 6 fastest qualifers that made it through the heats(3 transfered from 6 the heats and the heats were in inverted 6 deep). There were no dashes to set the A main line up. Kinser won a few Royal's from the 5-6 spots in the A. If the orginal format had been used Donny wouldnt have won. He probably would have started around 15th or so.Thats the evolution of the sport...love it or hate it.

That was one heckuva run last night by Schatz. He was ON his game last night and I don't think it would have mattered if he had started farther back as he was pretty much running the middle where few others were. He had the setup and passed/lapped a LOT of very good cars including Kinser. Say what you want about the guy but he is a helluva competitor on another very good year and (IMHO) well on his way to WoO championship #2.

Horrible format, 25th fastest qualifier wins the race and passes 1 car the entire night. I am glad I made my first trip to Eldora,,,, but I will never go to that race ever again.
by the way, the car he passed was in the main,, Dollansky got him on the start... for 7 laps I believe

Yep your TV is broken or you are just blind, passing lapped cars does not count as a passed car...
