Please keep Mark Widmar in your thoughts this week. He was racing a modified last night instead of the sprint car and was seriously injured in an accident. Last word I heard he had gotten through emergency surgery ok. But today they were afraid he may have bone fragments they were looking for that could be floating around. The rear bumper that pierced his cockpit left a massive laceration on his abdomen area. No vital organ were punctured which was good news.

That is terrible news, I saw him race at Knoxville just 5 days ago. Mark is a tough man, I will be thinking of him.

he is so tough instead of letting them cut him out of the car he pulled himself up onto the door and had them lift him onto the stretcher from there.

OUCH!!! I have 2 severely bulging disks and 2 vertebra in the lumbar region of my back that are tweaked, one towards the front and one towards the back, and, pardon my improper English, it ain’t fun. I can only try to imagine what it feels like to have 2 crushed vertebra.

I was at that race last night and he took a major hit. Hopefully, he will recover quickly.

This sucks. I met Mark years ago when he started racing 305's at Bloomfield. A very nice guy and a great racer. Hope he gets healed up and better soon.
