FREMONT, CALIFORNIA (April 29, 2013) – Shane Golobic of Fremont, CA, the 2012 Ocean Sprints champion, will make his NASCAR debut on Saturday night driving Jim Inglebright's #1 Chevrolet in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series, West "G-Oil 150" at Stockton 99 Speedway in Stockton, CA.
Golobic is off to one of the hottest starts of his young career in 2013, scoring a win against the World of Outlaws at Antioch Speedway and finishing second in the King of the West at Placerville last Saturday night. The San Jose State engineering student has a successful track record of USAC pavement Midget racing but will be making his first stockcar start in the 150 lap contest.
"I am excited for this opportunity to drive for Jim and his team and I am thankful that they are taking a chance on a dirt track racer like myself," Golobic said. "We were able to run some solid laps on Friday and I got much more comfortable in the car. I still have a lot to learn, but I am excited to take this next step in my racing career!"
Saturday's activities on the historic quarter-mile Stockton track will include practices at 12:30 p.m. and 1:45 p.m., with time trials at 5 p.m. 32 teams will be competing for one of 24 starting positions. The green flag is set to fly at 8:30 p.m. Action can be followed live on NASCARHomeTracks.com all throughout the day.
