Congratulations to Scotty Burns and OSS of a great night night of racing. To see 21 sprint cars start the main event and thunder around that track was truly impressive. A great job was done by everyone. OSS is an excellent venue for sprint car racing.

Way short for the purse paid out. That's after driving at lease twelve hours. If your a race fan why ask about the crowd size. Your lucky to have 410 nonwing sprint cars. Maybe drifting cars would draw better crowd or bull fights.

Then there was live a steam train in town too, the kids would had loved it at the B/N and Santa Fe train station downtown, that was free. Walking in two B/N diesels one less than a month old, and walk up and look into the cab of the steam loco.

I'd say not bad . As how there was another series. Running two hours away. And a lot of them guys are regulars . And they were up there fighting for points. The purse was right . The price of admission was right . And we were watching sprints . When the scheduling does not conflict with somewhere else this will be the show to be at. And in a few years if schedules do conflict this will still be the place to be. Grow Scotty Grow.
We need more sprint car racing at our home track.

I asked about the crowd because that is as important as the product on the track. You can have the best counts in the world but if there are dismal crowds then everyone suffers. Less fans through the gate lead to stagnate purses or lower purses with a worse case scenario being the facility closing. Look at Ventura, good cars counts then crowds started to diminish which then turned to lower purses which turned to lower car counts. Having said all this I think OSS as a dirt track will be far more successful than if it had remained asphalt. I think all involved are moving in the right direction. Demand for the open wheel product is essential. How to create and sustain that demand is not an easy thing nor a single issue solution.

Indeed it will Randy, and this x S Cali surf rat gear head will be there to see it as much as I can. There's no question that the opening of the Orange show stadium with the URA has marked a turning point for open wheeled racing in S Cali and the amount of work and courage to put it all on the line the way Scotty, his family and the rest of the crew has is admirable to say the least. All the main ingredients are there and with some more hard work and a little fine tuning and importantly support from our racing community, the joint should rock.

. I was sitting up in the stands with a couple of Don Flanders very close friends and trust me, Don was there not only with us, he was with everyone else at the track for the opening too.
.
Lots of thumbs up and big smiles and hey, the food wasn't bad either.

Half the lies they tell about me aren't true.

I drove by the Bakersfield turnoff for Oildale to drive the extra two hours to San Bernardino show. That's an extra four hours to my round trip. Don't blame the Oildale show for no race fans.

A little advertisement on say FROG radio or other local stations and this track will make a mark. The crowd was not bad for the first time out.
Support your local (SPRINT CARS)

Thank you for coming to our show and thank you for supporting sprint car racing. Our crowd was good and I believe in rule 76....no excuses...play like a champion. There were other things going on around the area but I need to do more on my end and that will happen. No matter what Sprint Car show you attend I thank you for being a true fan of the sport we love. I hope your trip was worth it to you and you will come hang out with us again. Scotty
