The official results aren't out yet but off the top of my head. 1. Don Krietz 2. Fred Rahmer 3. Tim Shaffer 4. Lance Dewease 5. Alan Krimes 6. Tim Kaeding 7. Chad Layton 8. Jac Haudenschild 9. Pat Cannon 10. Brent Marks

Donnie Krietz continues his assualt on the 2013 Williams Grove track championship as he came from the 5th row to beat the All-Stars tonight. Donald is one of the Posse's strongest drivers right now. He took the lead tonight on lap 11 from the 10th starting position.

Call me crazy, but I got out of class at JMU in Virginia at 2:30pm and headed straight to Williams Grove for tonight. I'll be making a rare appearance at Port Royal tomorrow.

We were 43 strong tonight with many invaders. All of which held their own. Tim Kaeding continued his fantastic start to the 2013 season as he ran extremely well at a track that has always given him fits. He was 5th quick, transfered through his heat, and ran 6th in the feature. Caleb Helms opened my eyes when I went to Ohio last year for Speedweek and confirmed that he will be something special by winning his first ever heat race at Williams Grove in impressive fashion over Lance Dewease. Tim Shaffer was very fast and started 2nd in the feature, grabbed the lead briefly before Rahmer took it back. The Wild Child was in the mix all night and briefly took a look at the lead and was racing hard with Rahmer and Shaffer. Brad Sweet, Cap Henry, Danny Lasoski and former weekly competitors Justin Henderson and Brian Paulus also made the A-Main tonight.

It was great racing all night until about lap 20 when rubber was noticeably down and everyone hugged the bottom.

Chad Layton paced time trials with a 17.3 in the Chip's car first appearance at the Grove.

Brian Monteith qualified well, looked absolutely terrible in his heat finishing 8th, and then ran out of gas running 3rd in the B. Monteith came into the night 2nd in points. Ryan Taylor came into the night 5th in points also was a DNQ.

Jason Leffler continues to look more comfortable in PA and was charging hard in the B. He ended up around 8th or so but ended up upside down on the backstretch after the checkered came out. I believe he received some intentional contact but couldn't tell who it was. Leffler stormed the pits near where both possible drivers were pitted but was stopped. The team was asked to leave the pits following the altercation.

Fred Rahmer has yet to finish outside the top 10 in his new ride. And has only finished outside the top 5 twice.

Adam Wilt, Eric Riggins and Sheldon Haudenschild all lost motors tonight. Mark Smith also stopped in the feature running 4th with a problem and did not return.

Pat Cannon is proving that he belongs in 410's with another solid top 10 in a stout field.

Greg Hodnett made a competitive return to the track tonight after a month or so off. Struggled in qualifying, won his heat, started at the rear and passed a couple of cars before pulling off early. I have to wonder if his hand prevented him from finishing the race tonight. We'll see what happens tomorrow and if he shows up and how he runs.

Tomorrow the party shifts to Port Royal. Lincoln will still run 410's. The Posse took 4 of the top 5 positions tonight, however only Lance Dewease will be in attendance at Port Royal for the All-Star invasion. Rahmer and Krimes will pass for their chance at the 10 Grand and run for points at Lincoln. Krietz very rarely runs on Saturdays. Posse young guns Brent Marks and Adam Wilt will also run Lincoln. Of Lincoln's regulars, Logan Schuchart will wheel the famed Weikert 29 at the Speed Palace and Danny Dietrich expressed interest in running Port tomorrow. Layton and Dewease will run but the Posse will be forced to rely on drivers that don't run the Grove at all to fend off the All-Stars and company tomorrow. Blaine Heimbach, Mike Wagner, Doug Esh, Mike Erdley, Dylan Cisney, Cliff Brian, etc will have their hands full with the talent that is coming in tomorrow and it will be an interesting test to see how they handle this star-studdered field. Kyle Larson has confirmed that he will be there tomorrow.

Port Royal has not run time trials all season and has already seen invader Dave Blaney pick up a win. IMO, The Posse is in some trouble tomorrow. The Posse improved to 27-0 at the Grove but the lack of depth this year was showing when the Dash was split 50/50. But hey, it's all fun and games.

Hell of a night of racing and glad that I came home. I'll be at Port tomorrow. Until then...

You go to JMU in Harrisonburg, Va? Ever go to Eastside Speedway in Waynesboro? (about 45 minutes away)

Thats where I caught the dirt track bug, back in the early 1960s. They used to run the old hotrod coupes: jalopies, sportsmen & modifieds, 100% inversion based on season pts. A guy named Smokey Stover dominated the Mods, starting from the back every race won 22 out of 24 in 1962. THAT was exciting! The fans were all either pro or anti Smokey & INTENSE.... A local self published book says he won at WG one time also, but haven't seen that documented anywhere else.

They still race there, mods & stockers I think & occasionally 305s. Also have drag strip now. Might wanna check it out

Anytime you get to watch the "Wild Child" is a great time, and Heat #4 was no exception! He and Montieth were pegged to give us excitement, at least 1 delivered. I hope Sheldon finds a motor, so he can run tonight & next week at Eldora...

I was told Leffler made contact with Taylors rear bumper several times after the B checkers and then pulled beside Taylor...when he did so, Taylor turned to cut him off and the 13 went up over a tire, turned and flipped slowly, unfortunately collecting Sammons. The 13 deserves better...

I thought the feature was fantastic up until the lap 14 caution. The 2 Hall of Famers and the "Steel City Outlaw" were putting on a show. Unfortunately the track took rubber, spoiling the hopes of Jac & Kaeding who were most reliant on it.

Don Kreitz Jr. has been running a limited sprint car schedule over the past few years, focusing mostly on Williams Grove Speedway on Friday nights.

But, when the racing surface gets wide and slick like it did on Friday night, Kreitz is still tough to beat.

Kreitz, of Sinking Spring, ran the inside groove to perfection and would march forward from his 12th starting spot to grab the lead from Fred Rahmer on lap 12.

From there, he built a huge lead and would score the 55th win of his career at the Grove and $5,000 in a race sanctioned by the All Star Circuit of Champions.

“It was a great race for us,” said Kreitz. “Davey (Brown) and the guys made a lot of changes from the heat race and had the car really hooked-up. He’s a big part of the team. He still does the engines and the set-up on the car.”

Having his car hooked-up was an understatement as Kreitz sliced through the field from the sixth row to grab third from All Star champion Tim Shaffer with 11 laps completed.

Rahmer had started on the pole and after trading the lead with Shaffer early in the 30-lap main event was fending off Jac Haudenschild for the lead as Kreitz took third.

Kreitz would get under Haudenschild for second off turn two and then slipped under Rahmer in turns three and four to grab the lead on lap 12.

“I just caught the leaders right,” said Kreitz “They didn’t know the bottom was coming in and our car was really dialed-in there early and left us get up through.”

After taking the lead, he built a huge lead.

He caught lapped traffic with a few laps to go and Rahmer closed, but the bottom was the preferred groove and all Rahmer could do was follow him to the checkered flag.

“I didn’t want to chance going around them, so I waited for them to make a mistake,” said Kreitz of lapped traffic. “Fred would have deserved to win if he had driven around us. You’re always worried when you get into lapped cars."

Kreitz ranks third on the Grove’s all-time win list, but hadn’t won at the historic track in a while.

“I haven’t won here in a little while and to get a win early here like this is good for our team,” said Kreitz.

The last time Kreitz won an All Star race at the Grove, he was disqualified for being under weight.

THE REST OF THE TOP FIVE
Fred Rahmer – The Hall of Famer continued his fantastic start to the season and maintained his Williams Grove point lead with a runner-up finish.

Tim Shaffer – The four-time All Star champion led one lap during the main event and gave the travelers a podium finish in the end.

Lance Dewease – The six-time Grove champion had to come from the eighth starting spot to record his top five finish.

Alan Krimes – He also used the inside line to advance into the top five from his 12th starting spot after winning the consolation.

In other action, Steve Buckwalter won the 20-lap ARDC midget feature.

With the exception of lock down conditions two thirds of the way through the A main, it was a great night of racing...Smile

I wonder what the Posse will do tonight considering the fact that The Donald and Fast Freddie won't be at Port to bail them out...wink

Here's the top half of the field from this race a year ago...

1. Greg Hodnett, 2. Danny Holtgraver, 3. David Gravel, 4. Sam Hafertepe Jr., 5. Paul McMahan, 6. Daryn Pittman, 7. Dale Blaney, 8. Aaron Ott, 9. Mark Smith, 10. Fred Rahmer, 11. Chad Layton, 12. Tim Shaffer, 13. Cap Henry

Hodnett is far from healthy, Pittman is gone. Ott and Rahmer won't be there. Mark Smith hasn't run Port all year.

Add Haudenschild, TK and Larson.

Should be interesting, but I'd be surprised if the Posse walks away with a victory.

Will gladly take being wrong. Man, Doug was a rail tonight. Loved his comments at the dash draw too. Good runs by Wagner, Buckwalter and Heimbach also. Doug certainly carried the Posse banner tonight but outside of that, no Posse in the top 5.

Because 2/3 of the good ones ran Lincoln, and a few of the others only run The Grove. Wish these two tracks worked together rather than against each other. Todd Weikert was saying about why guys would want to run the track paying less. The thing is you can't fault the drivers for wanting to support their weekly track. Hell if they all went to Port. Lincoln wouldn't have a field of cars and people would still bitch. Just wish when Port has a big money show Lincoln wouldn't schedule a 410 show on that date and Vice Versa.

That, and we're two weeks away from having Stevie Smith come out, if he counts. Man, I don't even want to worry about who counts or who doesn't count, as long as we have good car counts...
