World of Outlaws STP Sprint
Car Event at Paducah Postponed

Extensive rain, localized flooding prevent Friday's race from being run

PADUCAH, Ky. — April 19, 2013 — Heavy overnight rain is
forcing World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series and Paducah International
Raceway officials to postpone Friday night's event.

The excessive accumulation of rain runoff has made the track
and series look to reschedule the event for later in the season.

Fans with tickets to tonight's race can apply their ticket
to the rescheduled date, or the Federated Auto Parts Ironman in August at
Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55.

On Saturday night, the Outlaws will invade Tri-State
Speedway in Haubstadt, Ind.

Ticketholders with questions can call the World of Outlaws
ticket hotline at 877-395-8606, or click WorldofOutlaws.com/tickets.

Paducah International Raceway's 2013 season will continue
next Friday April 26th with our Annual Scout Night. Upcoming events
include Lucas Oil Late Models on Saturday May 4th, Tri State
Challenge on Friday May 31st, Summer Nationals Friday June 28th,
Nascar Night with Tony Stewart Thursday August 1st and the USA World
50 Friday August 23rd.

Yeah, especially since they have already called the race at Pevely on April 27 due to flooding.

You know I watch Supercross and when it rains days before the race they have the (large) track covered with tarps... Works wonders. Why cant the outlaws organization look into this? Seems feasible.

It would be a good idea but I think that would be on the track promoter's dime. I don't know what the cost would be but I am sure that it would be a pretty hefty bill considering tracks that have better funds than other like Eldora or Knoxville would have already made a purchase. Some tracks also don't have a drainage system installed inside the track themselves so the water would have to go some place once the tarps get taken off. Its a great idea but probably hard and expensive when put into practice.

Many times it's not the race track itself that is the concern with heavy rain, it's the pit area and spectator parking that can be the biggest problem. Most Super Cross tracks are in stadiums with asphalt parking and the teams park and pit on asphalt or concrete as well.

good points, just over the years seems ridiculous how many sprint car rainouts there are.
