Did you hear this week's Winged Nation? Fred Rahmer turns the tables on Steve and I at the end of his interview regarding drug testing. Donny Schatz says that double-file restarts need to end. And Brian Stickel talks about the start of the Knoxville Raceway season?

Agree or disagree with Freddie and Donny?

If someone with more computer savvy than I could post the link, I would be more than happy to post an opinion on the topic...

You mean a link to the archive of the broadcast I'm assuming Stan. Here ya go
http://www.motorracingnetwork.com/Media-Center/MRN-Show-Archives.aspx?id=5dc6a837bc6748c1a6ab7a61e4cf757d
This is also a link to it, bit.ly/GEH51d Kendra just didn't post it as a clickable link, so you just need to highlight it, copy, and then paste it in the address bar of a new browser.

No need to apologize, it works, you just have to copy and paste it into a new browser address bar.

Two veterans who know the costs and dangers of the sport all too well...surviving bad crashes and the escalating costs.
If the sport doesn't need drivers like these two, then the sport is focused on the wrong goals.

OK.....we are in our third year of Winged Nation and had the "World of Outlaws Report" before that. Fred Rahmer turning from interviewee to interviewer is my "all-time favorite" thing that has happened on the show. In fact, it's one of the best things I've been a part of including years of NASCAR shows for MRN and Sirius.
Fred is THE MAN, he came at us on the Tyler Walker situation and not only did he question us about it; but in his answer he convinced me of the criteria that I would use in this situation.
Give the show a listen, we have so much fun doing it and love when the pot gets stirred, even when it's our soup getting stirred!

I'm so honored and humbled to have Fred and Moon on this team we have assembled. I respect the passion and experience each bring and am further impressed that they are such great ambassadors for the sport.
Fred is the Man and not just on the track. Thanks for the great interview Kendra and Steve. See you at Williams Grove this summer!

Steve, I know you're into food so my question is when you're in the soup is it a broth, bisque, chowder or stew??

...and hopefully I speak for all fans when I say that we appreciate you and your team putting a car on the track, week in and out, regardless of driver.
As a fan that started following the sport only 6-7 years ago, all I knew was Freddie was good and he got booed a lot locally. In the meantime I've read stories from other drivers about how he's helped them if he could, whether it be lending parts or even working on competitors cars to get them back on the track. I've heard nothing but good things about him as a family man, husband and father. What I've learned, is that the main thing Freddie has done wrong, is be way too damn good for way too damn long. Great to see him with his confidence back this season.

As far as a thought of my own, I believe that there are exceptions to every rule...The Tyler Walker Project definitely falls under the category of "exception"...

As far as the double file fiasco goes, I say abolish it altogether or, at the very least, adopt the Lincoln Rule which would penalize a driver two spots for jumping on the next restart or the end of the event, whichever comes first...
Opinions may vary...

Final thought...I'm second guessing my decision to put 4 goodyear tires on my Daughters car because that may be the reason she drives like a spank... :/

Even though I have my doubts about drug testing, I would have no problem with Walker being suspended for his asinine & dangerous "3 state chase"

My hearing is very bad. Would someone care to just highlight his remarks about Walker?
Thanks much,

Well leon, the remarks were regarding work related hazards and employer liability for PED's...
Welcome much,

I think Fred"s responce about the driver of the #35( will not use his name) was spot on!!! I think there should be some kinda of policy about Drug use in all forms of racing! If a driver is suspended from a class/series for drug use, all tracks should uphold that suspention until said driver can prove different!!
This sport is dangerous, no need to make if worse by adding drugs!!!

I thought Donny and Fred were both spot on with their opinions (which in all reality, the only opinions that SHOULD count are the other drivers out there on the track).
From the interviews I've heard over the last few weeks, exactly ZERO drivers have said that drug testing shouldn't be done. To me, that's all the WoO or local tracks need to hear. If drivers are saying they should drug test, institute a mandatory/random drug test policy (I had to take one to get employed and then took another one last year when I updated my life insurance, simple, easy, and inexpensive per the nurse drawing blood samples).
I've stated since the double file restart rule started that I was against it. Doesn't accomplish anything except "manufactured" excitement for a lap or two. Has taken lapped traffic out of the equation and has actually caused MORE yellows (maybe they want to be like NASCAR and start having pitstops during the yellow flags now too).
Abolish the double file restarts (they don't enfore the rules on jumped starts consistently enough anyway), at least with the cone you knew if someone passed a car before they got there and it was easy to police. I'm not a Schatz fan, but glad he's become more of a "voice" for the drivers over the last few years. He knows that it costs a lot of $$ for his team (and obviously that's bad for Sprint Car Racing, as there are few teams with the resources that TSR, KKR, and Big Game Treestands has), and knows that many local teams are 1 bad wreck away from being done for a season (or done forever). We need more teams, not less (especially if we lose them for "manufactured" excitement.

Seeing some people cheer when Freddy crashed at Port Royal a couple of years ago pushed me into his camp. Cheer for him to lose, OK, but not to crash
