What is going on , 21 cars thats not a good show, where is everyone.. something must be going on .. i feel sorry for us fans.. paying all that money. hardly any cars.. i no if it keeps up like this i wont put my hard earned moneyout for a show like that. I love to go watch sprint cars and will spend the money no problem , but come on give me something to cheer for..makes me want to go to a local 360 show instead.. anyways just thought i would put that out there.. good luck you fans in texas .. makes me wonder how our king of the west shows will be, looks like i will make the trip to placerville on saturdays good car count and good driver roster

hope you all find some entertainment there

Don't panic!

Perris is the hot bed for NON wing racing. A small field was expected.

I wouldn't be surprised to see another small field tonight in El Paso...and it has already started but I haven't checked in to see the car count. I'll edit later.

21 cars in El Paso which is no surprise. Not a lot of 410 racing in Texas and I'll guess the five cars they picked up are from N.M. or they are Texas 360's. I'm sure someone will "clue" us in. There are people who lurk here who just love to do that!

There going to get smaller and smaller until they get real serious about the costs of 360 and 410 sprint car racing. Its out of hand and they do like the politicians do, throw a crumb and think that will solve it. Drastic measures need to be implemented yesterday or the slow painful death of the sport we all love will happen at a National level. Sucks bad!! Real bad!! Guys like Stewart, Kahne, Kinser, Kaeding (west coast) need to utilize their influence and start the ball rolling. Smaller motors and all those lies and urban myths and band aids and b.s. !!!!

Vegas (40cars), Tucson (30cars), Tulare (31cars), Stockton (40cars), Chico (41cars), Merced (31cars), Antioch (34cars), Kings (27cars). I think they are doing fine as of now. Its all about location, location, location. Texas is 360 country along with most of the area around it. Here in the Ohio area, they will probably get around 35-40cars each night as well since our region is 410. Their are just certain tracks that the outlaws will go to that will not generate a good car count and Perris is probably one of those areas. From what I hear it is mostly wingless around that area. Remember that the outlaws basically only have about 10-11 full time drivers most seasons, the rest of the fields are made of from local drivers going after the bigger purse that the is provided (in relation to what they normally race for weekly) and drivers like Keading, Haudenschild, Shaffer, Stewart, who run partial schedules when they come to that region. If none of the local drivers want to take a chance with dropping a 410 in their car and putting a wing on it, or just the cost of running in general, then you will get a low car count.

Most non wing cars do not have wing mounts on frames. The reason they have 360 ASCS cars in that part of country is that 410 were about dead years ago.

When the hard charger moves up only 3 positions it pretty much tells the story. Anyone know if Wheatley actually passed 3 cars or were there issues in front of him ? The 100 mph paradea are getting old.

Quality over Quantity.... only 21 cars in Texas tonight but it was a good race tonight.... Only 18 USAC cars at US36 last year and it was one hell of a show...

Apparently you weren't around in the late 90's / early 2000's when a standard WoO race had maybe 15 cars and less than 10 full-time teams were traveling. I wouldn't put that last nail in the coffin yet...

As long as there are fans in the stands, they'll be fine, this is the write up from last night:

"The real winners may well have been the fans, however. El Paso Speedway was packed. “This is normally a Friday night track and we’ve never had this many people in the stands on a Friday,” said track owner Royal Jones, who also raced and wound up finishing 14th. “Just look at all the guys in the pits. They are excited.”"

I remember back in the 90's when Mark Kinser won his heat because he was the only car on the track. This was at Eldora, there were 18 cars signed in and there are quite a few more than that in OHIO these days and there were lots back then also....

Nothing new about this...I live in an area with no 410s...so every WOO show I ever went to watch was a 21-23 car field, unless it was a midweek show and a handfull of Knoxville cars would come down and bring the count up to a whopping 25-27 cars..and even knowing what to expect me and 8,000 other people still bought tickets every time. What made me quit going was the realization that an ASCS national show with 45-65 cars always provided much better racing at half the ticket cost. Now we have nonwing racing to see or partticipate in locally so I don't plan on going to any ASCS shows unless they share the bill with a nonwing series.
Loose is when you hit the wall with the rear of the
car, tight is when you hit the wall with the front of
the car. Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall and
torque is how far you move the wall.

Most of you are too young to realize the "hey dey" of the World of Outlaws had less than half the regulars you see now...

21 cars in El Paso? Sounds about right to me, and sounds like it was a hell of a race! You wanted the best, you got 'em 4-abreast. But y'all were home anyway!

I witnessed a hell of a race at Burlington with McCarl and Lucas Wolfe slashing through the field on Saturday, and Ian Madsen winning with his new team.

The 410's have been bouncing back the last few years. At Knoxville we are looking at over 30 who are indicating they will compete weekly (with several newly built teams)...but keep sounding the death knell. I think PA, OH, IA and CA, which are the 410 standards, are looking pretty good...and they are joined by other pockets of the country...

I remember a Heat Race at Eldora that had one car on the track (Mark Kinser) when the Checkers flew, back in the 90's. Ohio had lots of cars then as they still do now. That night at the Big E there were 18 cars for the World of Outlaws, El Paso is not news nor the death knell, sorry....
