I've noticed that there seems to be a lot of tire issues happening this year. Sure are a ton of flat Hoosiers with very little being said. You know if it was a Goodyear problem, we would be hearing all kinds of negative responses. I read that Hoosier has advised teams to check bead locks to insure they are sealing. Sounds like they changed the thickness of the beads on their tires again. This happened a few years ago, and the wheel builders changed the beadlocks to accomadate Hoosier. They issued a statement that some teams might have to buy new beadlock rings. Looks like Weld, Sanders, Keizer etc. will need to make locks with a thicker area where they clamp onto the tire. I also see that they recommend tire pressures of 8 1/2 lbs. in the rt.rear and 6 lbs. in the left. That's another clamping issue. More air will help keep the tire seated. Hope Hoosier gets it solved. Don't need tire problems messing with some great racing. JMHO.

I think (Do NOT know this) that the statement was aimed at teams who used Goodyears on their wheels last year. Goodyear has a thicker bead, bending the beadlock ring a little. After using a wheel all season on one, and changing to the thinner (I believe) Hoosier, they are not laying perfectly flat. Goodyears sucked to mount. When the change happened, I know some teams had to change bolts because they use the exact shortest bolt to save weight, but the Goodyear bead was too thick.

Goodyear beads were thicker, tip for anyone whos having problems with their beadocks. Take some old goodyears and bolt the beadlocks on upside down. This will pull them back down where they should be and they will now work on the Hoosiers.

I think most WOO teams buy new rims every year.
