I have always thought Donny Schatz was a sandbagger when it came to time trials and I just now got the stats so far this season. Here are the time trial positions so far this year: 24 - 15 - 6 - 14 - 12 - 13 - 10 - 20 - 6 - 15 - 16 - 16 - 3. Looks to me his total focus is getting the front row of the heat race. I wish the outlaws would change the lineup around by a coin toss or something so people cannot sandbag and start on the front row. Just my 02 cents and no I dont like Schatz.

There are too many factors to say you can "fix" your time trials.

But on the other side the #1 and #2 guys in points each have the most quicktimes with 3 each. So if that is actually Donny's plan, he should probably rethink it cause most of the time it isn't working out in his favor. I'd say he's just struggling with qualifying. Like opnwhlr said, there's alot more factors that come into play than just lay down a slow qualifying lap and start up front, those #'s follow you threw the whole night and come into play and would more often handicap you than help if your laying down a slow lap on purpose.

It just amazes me how good these guys ate being able to sandbag partial seconds over a changing track. These guys are really good. LOL Doug Stahlke www.autodetailco.com

You can take your sandbagging theory and jam it up your ass mudder05. Looks like Donny qualified 4th tonight. If you had any sort of clue in regards to qualifying you would know it is virtually impossible to know just what your time is and how to manipulate it to where it needs to be. You are truley a complete idiot for making this original post in the first place. What's next.....Donny controling the dash draw? Hater's gonna hate I guess!

So Stroker Race here are a few more stats for you to stroke on. Donny Schats qualifying efforts for the last 8 years Knoxville Nationals: 12 - 2 - 7 - 3 - 1 - 3 - 5 - 2. Looks to me like that boy can qualify when it is important and you need a good time. Sure smells like sandbagging to me, but what do I know because Stroker says I am an IDIOT.

Mudder, Your'e missing Stokers point. It's virtually impossible to sandbag in time trials to the drivers benifit. It's not just in one drivers hands. If Schats tried to run a 15.01 and nailed it who's to say two other drivers aren't going to run above or below that number knocking him from the poll of a heat. Sandbaging doesn't work! It's more about chance and luck not a set number. Why risk the points you could earn for a good qualifying effort over the slim chance you can start at or near the front of a heat. If you still don't get it then Stroker is right you are an IDIOT.

At age 65 I'll say whatever the hell I want to say, politically correct or not as the decal on my truck tailgate says "Religion of Peace" with a picture of a stick of dynamite, anyway, anyone who thinks Donny Schatz is smart enough to place himself in the correct timing position to get in the front row of a heat is a braindead moron who needs to get out of his mother's basement and off the computer. Get a job or education pal ya jealous pric (ryhmes with brick).

Schatz is the last person I would want to see win a race but to say he is "fixing" TT's, in my opinion, is ludicrous.

OMG.. the start of this post shows his qualifying positions as per night. now take a closer look at your numbers since you seem to be so into them. what time of night as per field of qualifying cars did he go out on a givin night? NOW, check the variance of quick timer as to Donnys best ET,, BINGO! there is always less than half second separating the field of cars from approximately 1st to 15th, now just for your conspiracy theory , how much of a higher power must Donny be to know at any giving time he can calculate in his mind while traveling at 100 plus and know the exact drop in target time he needs to set in a Handicap Time.. Humm? seems like a lot of Knowledge to process in less than 20 seconds.. conspiracy busted.. Donnys lack of top 5's ect is waiving in the moment he went out to qualify 10-20 cars ahead of him, track to wett , too dry, it all depends on how lucky the driver is when he pulls his # at the gate, THAT # isn't relivent until the crew/driver sees how the track is shaping up for qualifying, that's a fact jack!
