We all know that most drivers have a PR person and their job is to make them look good.

One thing you can't deny is results.

I have been very suyrprised about the results of some of the drivers who ventured out "here" to run the month of races.

Starting at Tulare (first night) here is how "some" of them finished.

Brown 13th W. Johnson 15th Wilson 22nd Hafeertepe 6th in the B

Second night: W. Johnson 11th Brown 12th Hafertepe 7th in the B Wilson 10th in the B Sides 11th in the B

Chico: Brown 24th Madsen 3rd in the C Hafertepe 5th in the C Wilson 7th in the C Haud 6th in the B Saldana 8th in the B McCarl 13th in the B W. Johnson 14th in the B

Stockton: Brown 19th Hafertepe 20th McCarl 22nd Haud 8th in the C Sides 5th in the B Dollansky 9th in the B Kraig 10th in the B Wilson 13th in the B W. Johnwon 15th in the B

Merced: Brown 8th (his only top 10) McCarl 13th Wilson 17th Haud 20th W. Johnson 24th Kraig 8th in the B Madsen 11th in the B

Antioch: Haud 16th McCarl 22nd Wilson 24th Madsen 5th in the B Brown 13th in the B W. Johnson 15th in the B

It has been a tough trip for these guys and I am sure they all felt they would do much better out here.

I'm guessing it is the sunny weather which they are not accustomed to seeing "back home" this time of year!

Not to mention the Kinser's results.

Ca is not as easy as it appears.

It sure seemed like many if the racing provided little if any passing. Only thing missing on many if the features was the proverbial man with a top hat leading the parade down the front stretch. Mccarl and Brownie will do just fine when racing returned to the Midwest.

Cali tracks small and tacky, midwest big and dry. Just what your use too I guess, no more, no less.

So out of 6 races, Brown and McCarl qualified for the A all but one night each. On tracks they never race. If the fields include a ton of tough locals and the WoOs I don't see how that is half bad. Both will do just fine at home.

There isn't a track in Cali that McCarl hasn't run...on many occasions! (other than Perris POSSIBLY)

I don't think they came out with the intention of "just making" the feature each race. You can't buy too many burgers just making a feature.

p.s. you left out some other drivers..including a two-time All Star Champion!

That 2 time allstar champ hasn't been very competitive the last few years. In fact, I'd say that the last time that car ran well was when he won his last championship. There have been flashes here and there, but using the fact that he's an allstar champ isn't very relevant if you consider what's been going on lately. I do hope that he finds something soon, however. He's extremely fun to watch when things are going well.

I want to think all these guys for coming out west. Instead of talking bad about drivers why dont we talk about how good David Gravel is doing in the Rose 6? ( I didn't know that car had that kind of speed ) or Pitman finishing in the top 10 every Cali race along with TK.

I don't think you will find me talking "bad" about them. I have merely pointed out that their trip out west, for MOST of them, has been less than successful. You will find an earlier post about Gravel in which I stated, "I wish this young man had a full-time WoO ride. He is good and entertaining!"

Pittman, being a full-time WoO, was never considered part of those who "came west" to race.

david is on the move without a doubt. i had some dealings with him last year when he was trying to secure a ride for the skagit speedway dirt cup.

unfortunatetly he was involved in that horrible crash at terahaute three or so years agi which permanently ended a young rising stars carreer, travis rutz. it was an unfortunitate accident and was just that, an accident.

the sad and disgusting part is that so many people connected with the track dissed him and took his posts off the "little guy" or good ole' boy race chat site and didn't wan't him there!!

david is a hell of a racer, he will do well! give em' hell david!
