I'm not sure who is in charge of this, but for some reason, it seems to be quiet a science of getting it right on how you start a heat race. It is really interesting, as you need to win or get second in the heat race to be able to draw for starting position in the dash. From what I saw at the WoO race's I attended, there are two white lines in which is the area they can start. What constitutes a "good" start or a "bad" start? I'm not really sure anyone, including drivers with the WoO know for sure.

It probably gets explained every night by the flag-man... but sometimes they forget?

how come the restarts are often times worse than the original start?
in the IRA this happens all the time. and alot of times cars get wrecked.

In Fargo, in the dash, Kinser had a 10 car lead, with a stumbling engine, the rest of the field looked like a Christmas parking lot; it was called a good start.

The "Kinser Rule" has been in place for many years and will always be used as long as he continues to race.

You want to see a horrid start of a sprint car heat and/or feature visit the IRA. They want the cars at the slowest possible speed when they hit the white line so the cars are literally stacked on top of each other. From what I have seen so far this year the WoO has the better of the starting procedures. I will be checking out a NOSA show this weekend so I will be able to comment on them as well.
As for track prep I haven't been to an event yet this year that hasn't required the grader to come out and rework the track. That has to be corrected ASAP at all levels. No corporate people will sit through those types of delays. A racing event should be like the movies 2 to 2.5 hours tops.

The World of Outlaws officials in charge of the starts and all other racing decisions are Don Grabey and Carlton Reimers. They make the call from race control and usually have a pretty good vantage point of the action. It's not an easy job but I will admit there have been a few starts I've seen that are questionable. But, when you have about 100 race events, that's going to happen from time to time.

The flagman definitley doesn't make the call.
WoO officials-LET THE FLAGMAN DO HIS JOB!! THAT"S WHAT HE"S THERE FOR!
If not replace the flag stand with big red, yellow green lights and you can push the buttons to light up these lights and get the start you want.

once again..........I am listening to the King's Royal, and they call the dash back not once.....but twice. Both time's by the front row inside starter. How screwed up is their system, as this has NEVER been an issue in the past.

I heard tonight one of the crew members of the IRA went out and had a talk with an IRA official. I was later informed it was about the starts. The IRA is always really really slow. I did see several cars get together on the start and was suprised they did not tumble. Had grader race's again tonight 2 times and no qualifying " I just don't get it" This is really not a show for the fans and the track was not really good at all.
