what the hell is up with these stupid content links in the messages is this turning into an advertisement board or is it still a message board not bad enough you have them stupid pop ups all the time but now this ?????????

If your a poweruser you don't get the pop-up or the active links.

so either way it is a money thing pay to be a power user or the companies pay so you see the pop ups and links

I wouldn't expect someone to handle this site for free. A lot of time and effort go into bringing you this forum. They should be compensated one way or another.

I am a PowerUser and I pay and I still have ads in between the messages in longer posts. I don't expect anyone to provide the board for free, but if I pay to be a PowerUser, I don't think it's unreasonable that ALL advertising should be removed, and not just the pop-ups. I've brought this up several times before.

We have not billed a Power User since we created the new forum. Which was Nov. 2006. So technically you are not paying to be a Power User.

You pay for a magazine subscription and they are full of ads so should they remove all the ads since you are paying for the magazine.

You pay for your local news paper and they are full of ads so should they also remove all the ads since you are paying for it.

You provide the very best message board on the net, and at no charge to boot.

I don't know the prices, but I would assume that the servers needed to host these boards would buy a really good car or a home better than I live in.

You do a good job and are attentive to the needs of your people.

For this, you should be getting THANK YOU's instead of complaints.

Jeff, the only reason I bring it up is because I asked you about it when this board first went live and you told me that you just hadn't turned the filter on yet, but you were going to, and PowerUsers would see no ads at all. If you hadn't answered my question in that manner, I wouldn't have expected you to remove the ads.

Also, when I signed up as a PowerUser, I made an agreement acknowledging that I would be billed yearly. You still have my credit card info. It is not my fault that you haven't billed me in accordance with the terms I agreed to when I signed up. I asked to be billed. I volunteered to give you my money, annually. If you changed the way you handle billing, that doesn't mean that I'm not a paying customer anymore, especially since I was never made aware of this change until now.

I've been the first to defend you on every subject related to this board, Jeff. I've thanked you a million times. I've suggested features and provided feedback as you were troubleshooting things. I'm a little disappointed in your attitude towards me when my only issue is something you already told me you were going to change and never followed through with. I enjoyed my PowerUser status and I was happy to help support this message board, but your response to me really makes me doubt that right now.

That time of the month huh?

The pop ups are a PITA as they block content and are disruptive. As for adds interspersed between messages, no problem. I actually prefer them on Allan's main site. They help keep me aboobed of the latest technology available to the sprint scene.

There is no attitude. I was just pointing out that we have not charged anyone for Power User status since Nov. 2006. Things change and we decided to not charge users after we switched. We don't have your credit card or anybody elses credit card so we will not be billing anyone for Power User Status. There are only a couple places that ads show for Power Users. All users that were previous Power Users were grandfathered in on the new forum as Power Users. We are not setting up any new Power Users unless a Moderator sends us a request to make a user a Power User.

All that was in the email was
"The ads between the forums threads has not been filtered out yet."

And to make it clear. The ads between the posts will most likely never be filtered out.

Fine. I'm sorry that I interpreted the word "yet" to mean that it would happen, as that seemed a pretty safe assumption. Since every email or question I've asked about the ads since then has been completely ignored, I was never made aware that "yet" means "never". I've always been happy with your services here Jeff, but if you don't answer the question, you can't expect me to know the answer. Same goes with the billing thing. When I signed up, I signed up to be billed annually. I had no idea that had changed, and fully expected to be charged again whenever my anniversary rolled around. I was happy to pay, but thanks for correcting me in regards to my status here. Now that I'm not a paying customer, bring on the ads, I guess. The whole reason I signed up as a PowerUser was to avoid the ads and now I don't even have that option anymore.

I just got on DSL and the speed is even slower now when I come over here. I have a pop up blocker and some spy ware removing stuff.
