Long story but I'll try to explain. If you have Dish Network and their customer service asks you if you want a discount on your DSL if you already have DSL say no. I recently upgraded to hi-def TV and while on the phone regarding my Dish account the rep had a heavy accent resulting in a total misunderstanding regarding a special Quest offer due to a partner deal with Dish. I explained to him that I already had DSL for several years. He said that I still qualified for the discount even if I already had DSL. I thought why not? Result, Qwest sends me a new DSL modem, shuts off my existing DSL and signs me up for a new DSL account. I caught the error within an hour when the Dish confirmation email came and immediately called Qwest to cancel. They assured me that everything was taken care of but then I get the new modem today and my internet is off. I called my ISP and they said that Qwest shut off my account.

Last night I didn't get home from Owatonna until almost 1am and had to get up for work this morning. I went in late and the construction north of the Cities is a nightmare so I didn't get home until around 6:30 and I'm exhausted as I type this post. I had to spend over an hour on the phone with Qwest to get my internet running. After I hung up I found that I could receive but not send from my personal email account. Part of the process was to reconfigure the DSL modem so I called my ISP. Neither PC can send mail, my XP box or my wife's Linux box. My ISP kept me on the phone for an hour reconfiguring what are normally simple POP settings and finally gave up and told me to call Quest back. I have to call them to find out where to mail the extra modem so I'll have to do that tomorrow between getting ready for camping and getting pics developed.

Please send inquiries about Pics to [email protected] as that address is web based and should always work. Next week when I get home from the track I'll go over my website and make sure that is the only address being used. I had email issues when a relative was hosting my site on his server and ended up giving out three email addresses. I've got a bunch of accounts registered with the one that's not working so I will have to figure this mess out eventually. It has to have something to do with reconfiguring the DSL modem or perhaps a built in security feature but I am online and can receive messages so I'm clueless. I have had that email account for ten years with the same user, password and mail server settings so this has me baffled.

Also, I didn't get time because of being on the help line to get photos printed tonight but will have that done tomorrow and will get them in the mail and/or have them for you this weekend. Instead of what I originally planned I'm charging camera batteries for the Earnhardt Jr. visit on Thursday. I need to get the camper ready to get out there early Thursday.

Sorry to Brian and the staff of Steele County Speedway because I'm not going to get the Tri-Star Challenge Series photos from Monday online until next week. I don't have a laptop or any way to hookup to the internet from my camper. I have some nice shots but the last two days have been extremely difficult and hosed up. Also, I can't find your email and don't have time to dig for it Brian so I had to post this here to let you know what's going on. I can't make it to Owatonna on the 26th because of a family member with the Guard returning from overseas. I knew that there would be some conflicts with racing but we originally thought he'd be home before the season until they extended the Minnesota Guard. I'll ask around and see if I can line someone from down in that area up to help out that night. It took me an hour and a half to get into work today, normally a 30 minute drive due to construction. Highway 97 is closed from 61 to 35e until August 4th and traffic is backed up at Broadway, Highway 8, Hugo and you go a little further south and you run into that project in Little Canada. It's a hassle going into work later in the morning for a few weeks and that's what I have to do when I go to Owatonna. Sorry about not getting those photos posted.
