All is right in the world! After a rough couple weeks (and plenty of keyboard bashers) The King Steve Kinser won his WoO heat race! Beat one Tony Stewart (maybe the car owner let him get one?)...

Finished feature WITHOUT flipping too!

Nothing will ever take away from his record.

I think what many people are commenting on is his lack-luster performance so far this season. It certainly is not what they are accustomed to when thinking about Steve. I see he is in the "B" tonight up at Chico. I wish him well.

I just hope he hangs it up before he gets hurt. He hasn't been in a title hunt for a few years now. I just don't want to see him end up paralyzed or something to end his career. You might not want to admit it but age is not on his side.

Steve was leading the points in late July last year and was still second after maybe his worst Knoxville Nationals ever. I'd say he was right in the hunt less than one year ago. I don't know what caused the downhill slide but a win in October was the only bright spot the rest of last year and the slide has continued this year. It's been pretty dramatic actually. I, like many, hope he gets it straightened out and becomes at least competitive again. But you're right, no one, not even the King, can outrun father time. Eventually it'll have to come to an end. What a sad day for sprint racing that will be!

Steve will always be the KING, even if somebody breaks all his records. He was leading the points till the middle of 2012 and he's having motor problems.

We better enjoy him while he's still on tour. Once Steve & Sammy quit driving, WOO sprint car racing will never, ever be the same. Steve is still the #1 asset and draw for the WOO.

Like Richard Petty's record, I doubt anyone will ever break records set by Steve.

I think many are voicing opinions that they wish he could find the problem, fix it and return to being a front runner.

If you look at his finishes since they came "west" you will see an "average" finish of 16th and sprint car fans are not accustomed to seeing him run in the back of the pack.

Starting in Vegas and going through Saturday night at Chico his finishes have been:

17 - 18 - 17 - 21 - 18 - 8 - 13. These are not finishing positions we normally see associated with Steve.

Your die hard sprint car fan just isn't ready to see him with one top 10 every seven races. For me, I will always remember him as the one who blew into town, whipped up on everyone and headed to the next town to repeat what he had just done. In my mind he will ALWAYS be the king of sprint car racing!

I agree Leon. I can't see anyone breaking the records that Steve now holds. I am, and will always be a fan of Steve Kinser, even after he retires. He sure is one of the best, if not the best to ever sit in a sprint car. I'm thinking Steve kinser, Jan Opperman, Sammy Swindell, Doug Wolfgang and believe it or not, Donny Schatz.

will never be the same? how many teams are on the tour now, full time? 11 or 12

i respect your opinion that steve is the greatest of all time but his time is over rather we like it or not! again, i respect your opinion but we do not share the same opinion.

the stands are empty everywhere for the woo shows. i just was able to attend the two night show in tulare. the racing was great, the track was fast. the stands were empty (imo) both nights. the old guys just couldn't make it happen imo, again, jmo!

once upon a time the "future" of sprint car racing was the woo and, we thank them for that. they set the mold and the bar high at the same time. but, those days are gone forever rather we want to or like to admit it.

the young guns are here and taking over. they are here to stay my friends, stay thirsty...

Ascot was the greatest of all time..

West Capital wasn't half bad either..

Life is good...

No young driver that demonstrates kind of talent will stay in Sprint Cars long enough to break his record.

the outlaws started with about 8 teams. through their hay days they had 10-12 teams.

that is what the outlaws were designed for. they were never meant to carry 15-20 teams. that was not the idea.

they started out with the intent to bring a small band of traveling teams to your town to compete with and kick the butts of your locals.

when the outlaws started getting larger traveling numbers people complained the local couldn't compete because all the traveling teams took up the starting positions and there wasn't room for the locals.

now that the traveling team numbers have gone back to where they were meant to be, people complain there aren't enough traveling teams.

you people just can't be pleased.

you can't base the crowd size on one track. the outlaws draw big crowds at most venues. stockton was standing room only and they added tons of folding chairs below the regular grandstands.

last year at merced the place was packed. i doubt the stand were empty at tulare.

to indy and beyond!!

Young guys are needed but the WOO needs rivalries and "names" that draw fans. Personally, I go to see the drivers. I go to see Steve & Sammy. Guys like Steve, Wolfie, Sammy, Ferkel, Allen are what DRAW FANS. Guys like Schatz, Jason Meyers, Joey, Kyle are great drivers but they are all pretty boring. I admire their talent to drive cars but they all say the same thing. The "sponsor name here" car was really fast tonight, my guys work their butts off, I want to thank X, XY, XXY, etc. The series needs some rivalries! Dollansky and Sides create some news (good & bad) but I think the WOO is in BIG trouble when Steve and Sammy quit driving. Just my opinion.

I've always thought that if Steve and Sammy had came along 20 years earlier that they both would have had immensely successful careers in Indy cars and the champ cars. Man, can you even begin to imagine Steve and Sammy running with Foyt, Andretti, the Unsers, and Bettenhausen?!

And I think Haud would have made it and would have been every bit as exciting on pavement as he's been on dirt all these years.
