Just reading the article on the upcoming WoO season in SprintCar and Midget mag. Only one driver complained that he should have won the title last year. He needed one more pit person. He needed one or two more motors. He had bad luck. Especially sweet was his claim that he was wrecked by other drivers and had to many DNFs. Kinser said not a word about excuses or that he should have won the title. Same with Saldana's interview, same with Dollansky's interview. What the hell is wrong with this Swindell guy. I read Jeff Swindell's column every month and never a word about excuses or how great he was. Kevin Swindell is very humble in interviews. Is Sammy really related to Jeff and Kevin?

I had to laugh the other night on the WoO live race updates some gal made a comment that Sammy's demeanor reminded her of Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh, I just thought it was a funny comparison. It really is too bad he has to act like that cause it feels like we're at a point where fans really want to like him and then he goes and does something that makes it almost impossible. Look at the all the people cheering for him at the Nationals a few years back when he blew a tire. But then you have a night like the race on Speed from Charlotte last year on live TV when whether you like him or not it was almost toe curling to listen to him interview and blame everything on everyone other then himself. I know already the big Sammy fans are gonna come on and blast this and say he doesn't care if you like him or not.

Sammy's been that way since the 1970's. Nothings changed so what's the big deal. He is how he is and like it or not has been one of the best sprint car drivers in our lifetime.

In reality, he has probably been that way since the 1950's.

Sammy has one of the worst attitudes in all of sprint car racing... The guy takes 2nd at the Chili Bowl to his son and still looks angry at the world...

people ask him questions and he tells you how he feels then you pick him apart the reason the rest of them had nothing to say was other than dollansky they weren't in the hunt Sammy was the only driver to not take a provisional which I think having 6 of them in a year is crazy I could see maybe 2 or better yet none they are the traveling pros with more money and parts than the locals had it not been for them we would of had a new champ and be happy you got to see one of the best race before he is done and still at the top of his game not at the back of the pack having others make excuses for a motor program which might be some of the problem but it isn't all of it and if the motors are the problem there that is the easiest thing to fix

To be fair i think Kevin is a fair moron of a lad as well, tried to speak to him in the pits in Aus this year a few times and he was the rudest little ass-wipe i've ever come across.

I think this is a "rumor" but I heard, back in 1958 or 1959 when Sammy was 3 or 4, he was attending a pre-school. One day his dad got a call from the school telling him to come and pick Sammy up IMMEDIATELY! When his dad asked why the person from the school told him, "Sammy is on the playground and he is ramming his pedal car into all the other cars!"

Like I said..I think this might be a "rumor" so take it for what it is worth! Wink

This is how I feel when people ask me questions.... You are the one that ask me the question, so be prepared, the answer you receive may not be the one you want.

I am not saying Sammy has the best pitside manner. I am not making excuses for him not winning as many races as Kinser. Truth is, Sammy is an innovator. He doesn't go to the store and buy the same stuff as everyone else. He has tried to advance the sport by trying new things that sometimes don't work. He doesn't just show up at the track with his helmet bag and jump in the car. I think he deserves a little credit for that.

I have always been suspicious Sammy may have Asperger's syndrome. That's not a knock in any way many people suffer from it and have amazingly successful lives but it does explain a lot of the stuff he does.
More weight, more regulation, more similarity in the
cars.... that will ensure plenty of thrills for years
to come. Only the most average talent behind the
wheel will be needed with such awesome equipment on
the track!

Gimme a break! You don't know squat about Asperger's syndrome.
