When did the Outlaws change their flat tire rule?

Last year if you had a flat (on any corner of the car), you were forced to pit to change tires and not compete as it was deemed unsafe.

According to the WoO race report on their website, Schatz had a flat left front tire during a caution and the race was restarted with him still in 2nd place (not forced to pit to change it).

I have no beef with Schatz, just the rule itself. If you have the rule, you have to follow it (no matter whose car it is). If you no longer have the rule, when someone has a flat right rear or left rear, you need to let them restart the race as well and take their chances with it as well.

IMO, a flat tire is a SAFETY concern for all drivers on the track and therefore the car with the flat should be required to pit. If it's a bleeder and they can just put air in it, let them restart with a 2 spot penalty. if they have to change the tire, send them to the rear of the field.

The big thing is to have a rule and ENFORCE it. If you don't enforce the rules you have you might as well not have any.

I believe its any tire ecxept for the left front beings how thats the least important, sammy won the biggest 360 race in the country with a flat left front for a big chunk of the race

Cody had a left front tire at Volusia and they left him restart the first time. Then it rolled of the rim and he had to come in and change it.

Sammy ran the last 13 laps of the 2011 Short Track Nationals with a flat LF and won by a huge margin...

Last year they let Dollansky go with a flat right rear at the World Finals. Wrecked Stevie Smith in the process. They usually don't force the leader to the pits w/ a tire going down.

Just seems the rule is different based on where you are running (which makes no sense to me, you're more of a danger to other drivers when you're at the front of hte pack).

Sammy's tire was in an ASCS race, not a WoO race.

I saw the outlaws force a local driver to the pit area to change tires during a WoO show last year at Knoxville (and it wasn't off the rim and would inflate when he hit the gas).

Just seems like the rules are applied here and there which is bad business (at least when you depend on cars not following the circuit to fill out your fields).

Like I stated before, it has nothing to do with Schatz, it only has to do with the rule itself. you either enforce it 100% of the time, or you don't have the rule, it's that simple...

vande....enforcement of rules, or lack thereof, is nothing new in this series. One of the most blatant is the "work area" rule. I have seen "certain drivers" get much more time than what a local is given. It just goes with the territory and if you are going to run with them you just have to accept it. Last night the "force" was with them and the tire didn't come apart. I'm very happy about that. (Note: I have no idea how much pressure was still in the tire and am basing my comments on what has appeared on this thread.)

Last year if a Goodyear tire lost 1 lb of air numerous people would claim Goodyear tires worthless. Hoosier tires have gone flat or blown out about 8-10 times at Vegas. What happened to these people and thier concern about tires? I really do not care, but it is a little strange.

I've never known the WoO to allow that. In the past I have seen a car not make it out for the start of a race and a yellow or red flag comes out before the first lap is completed and then see the car come out and join the race...but not after one lap has been recorded.

Have been wondering the same thing, seems the same issues are going on with Hoosier that Goodyear had...
