2013 LoneStar Speedway Season Kicks Off with 2/23 Practice

TX (2/19/13) by DarinShort.com. The revitalization of LoneStar Speedway
has continued over the off-season, as track owners Lisa and Sam
Hafertepe continue to make improvements to the facility. Teams and race
fans can get their first look at the new changes this Saturday, February
23rd as Open Practice and Registration will commence at Noon and run
until 4pm.
Another 15 loads of clay have been added to the racing
surface. This is in addition to the clay that was added prior to the
LoneStar Sprint Nationals this past October.
And to help manicure
the racing surface, a maintenance vehicle has been purchased that
features large implement tires; which will aid in prepping.
The
existing asphalt driveway behind the main grandstand has been pulled up
and resurfaced with crushed driveway rock, which will make a smoother
ride in and out of the facility for race fans.
The LoneStar
Speedway has come a long way since Hafertepe’s purchased it back in
2009. They have spent a tremendous amount of time and money to help give
race fans and teams a quality facility for racing.
And those
efforts are showing. Car counts and fan counts have risen dramatically
over the period the past four years, especially since the
reconfiguration of the surface two seasons ago. That reconfiguration has
also led to lots of side-by-side racing, resulting in more excitement
for race fans.
Sam Hafertepe comments: “It is our goal to give
our teams and fans a quality racing experience, and we’re going to keep
making enhancements and improvements to the facility. It’s produced
really good racing since the reconfiguration and we are looking forward
to a fun and exciting 2013 racing season.”
Open Practice (any
racing division) & Registration opens at Noon this Saturday and runs
until 4pm. All pit passes are $15 and there is no charge for grandstand
admission. Fuel will be available.
