Here's the link:

I had the pleasure of hearing Don speak his thoughts on Open Competition Sprint Car Racing while I was in Arizona last October. I bumped into him at Steve Stroud's beautiful Racer's Advantage Store and Museum. He was hoping that someone would put together an Unlimited series, because he was convinced that with a little ingenuity and some common sense, someone could build a kick-ass sprint car motor with smaller displacement for a fraction of what the frontrunners are currently spending on their 410's. He was so eager to get one of these built and see it compete.

It was those very discussions that convinced Scott Burns to create a place for these types of creative minds to showcase their innovations and to allow creativity to prevail, in hopes of reducing cost and increasing interest and populatiry for our sport. Don Flanders is the "Godfather" of the United Racing Association (URA). Now Don will have the best seat in the house to watch his dream come true. I hope that someone puts his theory to the test and builds something along the same lines as Don described....and kicks some butt with it. No excuse not to try stuff now.

"If you build it, they will come"...let's see who's gonna play...

Condolences from everyone at Perris Auto Speedway. Don was such a good friend to everyone in racing. Last time I talked to him was in the later half of the 2012 season and he was handing me a sizable check to be split among the bottom finishers for a USAC/CRA race at The PAS. R.I.P. friend.
