Anybody know who makes the hoods that are on Schatz and Stewart's car? I realize they are running J & J cars, but I don't think it's a J & J hood. Different than the ones they ran last year.

That's why they design their own and have them built...looking for Performance! I doubt they care if you think they're pretty or not.
do it in the dirt

I still say, the car they are taking pictures of after the race is the BEST looking car there. JMO

Boy I have to apoligize,I screwed up,and actually thought the subject was the Kahne car hoods,I never cared for them.Brain fade I guess! I've seen photo's of the TSR cars but really didn't look close at their hoods. I do understand the wind tunnel angle but when your pushing a huge wing around the track already I wouldn't think a little hood drag is gonna cost you much, but I'm no wind tunnel expert.Could have more to do with the engine breathing.Watched a hot rod TV show years ago about a build of a drag car,an early 70's Nova.First time at the strip it was cutting out towards the end of the 1/4 mile.It took them a while to figure out the problem. To save weight they had left out the inner front fenderwells on the car. What they found was that when the car got up to speed down track, the air turbulence under the hood was actually sucking air away from the carb on that car causing the motor to stumble. They put the fenderwells back in and it ran fine.Again,I apoligize on the hood comment since I wasn't even commenting on the right hoods. If I'm getting early oldtimers disease I better quit commenting on forums, beuaty is in the eye of the beholder anyways.I still think those KKR hoods are ugly though! LOL
