With the curved surface, what is the best way to apply a cut vinyl number to a sprint car tail tank?
Any help would be great. Thanks!

apply them wet, a drop of dish soap and water in a spray bottle. spray tank and apply, plan on taking your time, but you will get them. let stand over night when finished.

Yes, for sure use some heat (heat gun or hair dryer). It makes the vinyl more pliable. Just don't overheat it or it can melt the vinyl and/or break down the adhesive glue backing. A small amount of application fluid or soapy water (a few drops of dish soap in a spray bottle of warmish water) can help, but heating afterward will also help by softening the vinyl and keeping it from scrunching or edge peeling due to the material having 'memory'. And stock up on patience. You're going to need it Good luck

It depends on what type of vinyl you are using. If you are using air release vinyl heat only. This is what they use on wraps. If you are using regular vinyl wetter is better followed with some heat.

Check out KKR video.
Its not on the tail tank, but here you see them applying a little heat to the vinyl at the 1:15 mark on panels.
Great little video.
