When did "Haud" come on the scene? Was he there at the beginning of WoO or just in the early 80's

I remember him driving the Gambler House car with Kenny Woodruff in I believe '82 at the Gold cup.

I think the first year Jac raced with the WoO was 1982 driving the Kenny Rogers Gambler house car. 1980 and 81 he raced with the All Stars. First WoO win was 1985 at Kokomo.

I'm not sure I am understanding what you mean by "Boys dont forget your own rubbers when North Carolina is aroundwink". Are you referring to tires? Cause that statement can be read a number of ways Smile

Cheers!

I think he kinda first hit the scene when he finished 3rd in the rain plagued 79' Eldora Nationals.

Haudenschild's 2nd place finish behind Rick Ferkel in the inaugural Eldora Nationals in 78 in the Yerian Coal 75 was also a big step in his career.

I think that's the year I was thinking of. There was article in Open Wheel magazine somewhere around1985 written by Jon Sawyer detailing that race.

From Open Wheel magazine July 1985 - 1979 Eldora nationals - Steve Kinser won the Eldora extravaganza in commanding fashion that August but for the average grass roots, blue jean wearin member of Ohio's youthful fandom those three nights of tumult shall ever remain as Jac Haudenschilds Naionals. That magical time when 'little buddy' came out of the shadows to establish a pattern of driving that currently renders him into the limelight as One of Americas most exciting and popular sprint car drivers. -John Sawyer

Jac qualified 6th, finished 4th in the dash, thereby starting 4th in the A and broke a steering case on the first lap.
My wife told me if I went to one more Sprint Car race
she would leave me.................I'm sure gonna miss
that ol' gal.

I got one for ya! I believe it was either the 78' or 79' Busch Class @ Eldora, (the last World of Outlaw race of the season). There was a Red flag, and like most other 12 / 13 year old boys I was drown by the fence, Jac was in the back of the pack driving the Nickel Bros. car, and someone that knew him yelled out "Hey Jac, you going to get up there and run with them" he answered Hell No, there crazy"! That Kill's me every time I think of it! Still LMAO!
