What happened between Ryan Bernal and Ballou, on and off the track last night?

Ballou punched him after the races. Maybe Ballou is getting ready to ask his fans for money again to support his racing and vacations to Diseyland.

Did he pull out a screwdriver in this altercation? Nobody tears shit up like Ballou. Bernal has more talent in his pinky toe.

Cheers!

You know me, I'm not real big on bashing drivers and I didn't see what happened in the pits, but I'd been watching Ballou and Ryan closely for the two laps leading to when Ballou spun out and it was just hard racing. I'm thinking Robert was just getting tired of getting out ran by the young man and was just frustrated and acting childish. I like Robert, but you know what I mean. He did get out of his car and do a little pointing, but I'm was surprised there was a confrontation. I mean there was very little contact, and Ballou had set the stage himself with a Bonzi move in 4 a 1/2 lap before the incidental contact toward the end of the back chute... If Balou was jammed hard and personally in his pits every time he banged another drivers nurf bar, he'd have no time to himself..LOL

you people crack me up. did you even see it or are you just voicing your opinion without any evidence? Bernal has been driving like a squirrel for quite some time. Hell he crashed Kaeding earlier I'm surprised Bud didn't beat his butt for that one. Bernal went below the tires into the infield to drive up into the side of Ballou left front it was uncalled for no way could he have thought he was gonna clear him and for someone to say there wasn't much contact it destroyed the front end of that car if you looked at it in the pits after you would have known that. Ballou didn't spin out - bernal ran over him then KT had no where to go hitting Ballou from the rear spinning him around. I don't figure how you think he got out ran by someone if Bernal had to hit him in the left front clearly Ballou was the one in front out runnign Bernal?! What race were you watching? There are a lot of drivers that have been sick of Bernal and the way he drives for quite some time and to say Bernal has more talent in his pinky toe seriously this is the same kid that didn't bother to put his steering wheel on all the way at chili bowl and junked a car. Just sayin i heard more than one driver tell Ballou it was about time someone put bernal in his place. Whether you like or dislike Ballou that was a terrible move on Bernal's part

Like I said, I saw it and Ballou had made a bonzi pass on Ryan on the bottom of four to take the spot, and Ryan was returning the favor as the were going into three. You know I checked with a few of my other friends who were also there, and they saw it the same way as I did, as did the others in the stands around me!

Now as far as Bud go's what's up with him anyway? He's been running like crap lately and overdriving like he has a sophomore jinx.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For instance, I wrote to Joe...What happen with Ballou and Ryan after the race? I was watching that deal and it's nothin that Robert hasn't done many times himself. I saw it as hard racing.

Kenny

Joe said in reply..."I saw that also....and I agree. Didn't go in the pits afterward, so I guess we'll never know".

In short and unlike some on here, I don't have a dog in this race and I stand by what I said. "If Balou was jammed hard and personally in his pits every time he banged another drivers nurf bar, he'd have no time to himself..LOL"

The finishing order for the earlier daytime show, and yes, Ryan out ran Ballou."FEATURE: (30 laps) 1. R.J. Johnson, 2. Jon Stanbrough, 3. Ryan Bernal, 4. Charles Davis Jr., 5. Josh Pelkey, 6. Robert Ballou,

Now as far as that deal with Stanbough go's. When he was in Deskins car last year at the Challenge, he was declared the winner of one of the race's when he went across the loop in the ground that's clearly marked with a white painted post, not the flagstand. It's not like Jon is a tourist at that track, he's had lots of experience there and the transponder said RJ's car was the first one to cross it. No favoritism, just a stupid place for the transponder to be, before the flagstand.

What happened the night before was that Jon was chasing Bryan and made a bobble right after he got got past RJ, a lapped car. RJ then got back around John because of the slip and continued to stand on it. John was never, not then or ever was he really within striking distance to Clauson.

When it comes to ending a race under the green flag,,,,, the win is all ways called at the start/finnish line,,, always has been that way,,,,,,,, 'now' if a red flag is thrown ,,,,,, and theirs not going to be a restart of the race,,,, another words the officials have called the race,,, then the officials will go back and review the loop,,,,, The reason for going back to review the loop,,,,, is to eliminate all the cars that were involved in the incident,,,, then at that time they will have a finnish order ,,,,,,,Another words you do not race to the loop,,,, you race to the START/FINISH line,,,,,,PERIOD !!!!!!!!!!!!,,,,,,ZZ

Not at Canyon you don't, and thats why they have the pole on the crash fence painted white. It's not like this is a new thing, it's the way it's been.....PERIOD!!!!!!!!! LOL

You are right on both statements, then for Stanbrough to whine about it was stupid. He would not have beaten Clauson if he had been given a full lap lead.

Thank you Grady. I like both Ballou and Stanbrough, but it seems these national guy's want two sets of rules, with both in their favor. (BIG GRIN)

OK,,,,,,,,What if a car is comin down for the checkered flag ,,,,,, and a red flag comes out and the leader hits the loop at the same time,,,,,,, but goes buy the start/finish line with the red flag flying,,,,, the winner never got the checkered flag,,,,,,,,, does Canyon cover this in writing in a rule book,,,,if so it will be interesting to see what USAC would do on a USAC show that involves USAC points,,,,, Regardless Canyon needs to move the start/finish to where the loop ends,,,,, or move the loop to the start/finish,,,,,,,, why be half ass about the finish line,,,,,,,,, To me there seems to be a alternative reason foe this controversy, ????????????? ,,,,,,,ZZ

I find it a little strange that the drivers would not be sure where the loop is for their transponders. I know us fans that have gone to canyon have discussed the finish line more than a few times and it is painted on the pole before the flag stand.
We need more sprint car racing at our home track.

Ballou may have made a bonzi pass but it it was clean all the way bernal hit his left front and went below the tires to do it no way was he even close it's not like he clipped him with his rear he wasn't even close and he had to drive into the infield to do it. What is even funnier is in the day race after Clauson blew his RR bernal passed Ballou on the restart before the cone - canyon rules stated specifically anyone passing before cone on restarts would be docked 2 position and they didn't do anything about it so who was getti g the special treatment there ? Don't put rules in writing if you ain't gonna honor them!. Yea my username is just easy for me to rembr I was raised in Alabama but live in Kansas now it's on my license plate. I was born in 78. I help on a few teams here and there. Ballou had a right to be mad that wasn't a racing deal. Hitting someone in the left front isn't racing it means you don't have the position. Bernal has made more than a few people mad over the last year. And I'm but even a Ballou fan but I've seen bernal make some bad moves and never own up to it. Yea bud is having an off year idk what his deal is although bernal did flat take him out. Greg

Another friend who also wrenches had this to say when asked the same question. also via email, and yes he was there too.

.What happen with Ballou and Ryan after the race? I was watching that deal and it's nothin that Robert hasn't done many times himself. I saw it as hard racing.

He said this and I agree, but it doesn't make it right.... He said "I think it was more about the stress of not having a full time deal. And having a bad weekend."
.
I've watched Ryan more than a few times in person the last two years and I've watched him closely, and not because he's flashy, just the opposite. I watch him because he's one of the best young racers in both AZ and Cali and he pushes some of the older and more experienced drivers hard.
I've never heard anyone say that Ryan wasn't anything but a smart heads up young and coming racer until you came along. Perfect, hell no, but the kids damn good and getting better.

Rob,

It's actually past the start finish line by about 4ft.

Is that really where it is ? I'm just asking because this popped into my mind which is scary anyways. Is it 4 ft passed or is that because you but the transponder towards the back of the car ?
